A free demo of MOLTYN, a PC superhero physics sandbox game from the Australian solo indie studio Hingston Digital (based in Griffith, New South Wales, Australia; led by Andrew Hingston), will be available on Steam starting October 6, 2026 (Tuesday) at 10:00 PM (JST). The game will also be shown at Steam Next Fest, held from October 19 to 26, and Early Access is planned to begin on November 12, 2026 at US$9.99. The demo supports nine languages, including Japanese, and also runs smoothly on Steam Deck.
Harnessing Earth's Forces Through Physics
In MOLTYN, players wield forces found on Earth, including lasers, gravity, water, lava, storms, freezing, and even nuclear explosions. Every force acts directly on a world where everything runs on physics simulation. Players can melt the ground, flood a city, or freeze the ocean and throw it. Buildings that lose their support collapse, evaporated water turns into clouds and brings rain, and flying at extreme speed can even turn the ground into lava.
What's in the Demo
- Five story missions: The missions range from a rescue at a harbor to a monster as big as a city, a showdown with your own double, falling meteors, and a mission on the moon. At the end of each mission, a results screen rates how much of the city remains intact.
- Two sandbox worlds ("The Island" and "Blank Canvas") and a sandbox editor: Players can freely place NPCs, objects, vehicles, and materials, then switch straight to Hero Mode and cause chaos in the world they built.
Early Access (Planned for November 12, 2026)
Early Access is planned to include the first 10 of the 18 planned story missions, six sandbox worlds with all stages unlocked, and local versus play (VS Mode and Sandbox Mode).
About the Developer
MOLTYN is being developed single-handedly by Andrew Hingston in Australia. After the first trailer drew attention, wishlist registrations passed 10,000, and now stand at about 21,000. Around 3,500 people took part in a Steam playtest held in September, and many survey respondents rated how fun the game was at 8 or higher out of 10.
