Whity Umeda, the underground shopping mall operated by Osaka Chikagai Co., Ltd., is celebrating summer with its first-ever collaboration decorations featuring Monchhichi. Running from July 17 (Friday) to August 16 (Sunday), 2026, the "Monchhichi's Fun Fun Summer!" campaign transforms three spots inside the mall into ocean, sunflower, and summer festival themed worlds, filled with photogenic scenes of Monchhichi enjoying the season.

Monchhichi is a plush toy character first released in 1974 by Sekiguchi Co., Ltd., loved for its pacifier pose and freckled face. Since its debut, it has remained a favorite across generations and continues to attract fans today.

Izumi no Hiroba: "Sui Sui Sooi"

At Izumi no Hiroba, Monchhichi enjoys an underwater world inspired by the sea. Shells, coral, starfish, and bubble motifs mix with jellyfish-like decorations and a shimmering blue setting to create a dreamlike scene that feels like stepping into the ocean. Dressed as mermaids and other sea creatures, the Monchhichi characters enjoy a cute summer at the beach. A photo spot at the center lets visitors take pictures alongside Monchhichi for a memorable summer keepsake.

Sunny Terrace: "Himawari Garden"

Filled with real sunflowers, the "Himawari Garden" welcomes visitors with Monchhichi dressed for summer. Vivid yellow sunflowers fill the space alongside pinwheels and wooden ornaments for a garden-style look that feels bright and open. Combining festivity with warmth, it's a perfect spot for summer photo memories.

Faruru Passage: "It's a Summer Festival, Mon!"

The Faruru Passage centers on a festival-style tower decorated for summer, with Monchhichi characters dressed in yukata and jinbei. Monchhichi-patterned lanterns, fans, and firework motifs decorate the space, creating the lively, nostalgic mood of a Japanese summer festival. Scenes evoking bon-odori dancing, goldfish scooping, and yo-yo fishing capture the fun of a summer festival that's hard to walk past without stopping.
