Monteur, a Yashio, Saitama-based company that manufactures and sells Western-style fresh confectionery, is releasing a Luxe Mont Blanc Dorayaki generously filled with Kuma Chestnut® (Kuma Guri), a branded Japanese chestnut from Kumamoto Prefecture. The dorayaki goes on sale nationwide at supermarkets for a limited time from Tuesday, September 1 to Monday, November 30, 2026.
Monteur has built a following with its "Wa Sweets" line, which brings together the best of Western and Japanese confectionery. Among these, its products themed around the delicious flavors of Japan highlight prized domestic ingredients, and the lineup includes a Mont Blanc Dorayaki that rotates through chestnuts from different growing regions each season.
This time, the recipe has been renewed to bring out even more of the chestnuts' natural flavor, including a specially piped chestnut paste with a richer aroma. The new release uses Kuma Chestnut®, grown in the Kuma region of Kumamoto Prefecture, one of Japan's leading chestnut-producing areas. The temperature swings of the Kuma region nurture a rich sweetness and fragrant chestnut flavor in this product.
A portion of the product's September sales will be donated toward relief funds for the earthquake that struck Kumamoto Prefecture in July.

The Luxe Mont Blanc Dorayaki: Kumamoto Kuma Chestnut is a two-layer dorayaki made with a house-made chestnut paste generously filled with Kuma Chestnut® from the Kuma region of Kumamoto Prefecture, paired with a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth milk cream. Made with a Kuma chestnut paste that balances sweetness and a light astringency with rich flavor, the chestnut filling used in this product is carefully cooked in-house at Monteur's own factory. The moisture and sugar content are adjusted to bring out the natural flavor of the chestnut. Rather than blending the chestnut paste into the cream, it's piped in on its own, so the chestnut flavor comes through richer and more concentrated. The dough is made with domestic wheat flour, Japanese yam, and mirin, giving it a fluffy texture and a rich flavor. With every bite, the soft, fragrant dough combines with the gentle milky cream and the deep aroma and sweetness of the Kuma Chestnut® for a well-rounded taste.
