MY ONLY FRAGRANCE, a custom fragrance shop offering over 110 million possible scent combinations, is opening a new location in Kanazawa's Kannon-machi district on June 6, 2026 (Saturday). The shop is operated by Fragrance Project Co., Ltd., based in Kyoto, which currently runs 13 stores across Japan in cities including Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Yokohama, and Narita.
The Kanazawa store is situated in the Kannon-machi area, directly adjacent to the Higashi Chaya-gai — one of Kanazawa's most recognized historic districts. The area, designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings, attracts visitors from Japan and abroad, and Kannon-machi in particular offers a quieter, more leisurely atmosphere alongside the lively tea house streets. It's being positioned as a new destination where visitors can add a fragrant memory to their time in Kanazawa — whether on a day out with friends, a couple's anniversary, a mother-daughter outing, or a sightseeing trip.
A Custom Fragrance Experience in the Heart of Historic Kanazawa
At MY ONLY FRAGRANCE, customers select from dozens of fragrance notes and work one-on-one with a fragrance advisor to blend a scent that is entirely their own. With over 110 million possible combinations, no two results are the same. The blending process happens right in front of the customer, drop by drop, making the experience itself a highlight.

Kannon-machi borders the Higashi Chaya-gai, a historic district filled with preserved townhouses, temples, and shrines. While the tea house streets draw crowds, Kannon-machi retains a more relaxed rhythm suited to unhurried wandering.

Fragrances Available at the Kanazawa Store
Alongside the standard custom blending experience, the Kanazawa store offers an "Accent Fragrance" add-on (an additional ¥500) that layers extra depth and character onto the base blend. Three accent options are available: "Black Peony," "Continental Breeze," and "Gourmet Special."
The store also introduces two Kanazawa-exclusive fragrances inspired by the city's scenery:
Shinsui (深翠) — Inspired by deep forests after rain and misty natural landscapes, this scent reflects the quiet, moisture-laden air and gentle sound of rainfall that define Kanazawa's climate. Rather than bright or assertive, it has a slowly unfolding depth — a calming, grounded quality that evokes being surrounded by nature.
Yunagi (夕凪) — Inspired by the evening calm after rain and the quieter corners of the city away from the tourist crowd, Yunagi layers soft florals with a fleeting, composed sensibility. It leaves a tranquil, composed impression.
Both are exclusive to the Kanazawa store, unified by the theme of "the quiet, natural beauty of Kanazawa."
