A new brand devoted entirely to Japanese pear sweets, Nashiré, has launched with the idea that "pear lovers will fall even more in love with pears." Its debut product is the Rifu Pear Cheesecake, built around Rifu pear, a specialty of Rifu Town in Miyagi Prefecture with a 140-year history. The two-layer cheesecake was created to let more people enjoy the delicate flavor of Japanese pear as a special dessert, and reservations open on July 4, 2026 (Pear Day). The cake is supervised by Chef Enmeiji of EMMÉ, the Michelin one-star dessert and wine shop in Omotesando. Only 28 whole cakes will be made for the 2026 production run. Part of the proceeds from this product will go toward developing products with local ingredients and other initiatives that promote the appeal of the region.
Reservations open on July 4, 2026 (Pear Day), with shipping starting sequentially from August 2026.
Three Highlights: A New-Style Dessert Finished with Rifu Pear Jelly
The Rifu Pear Cheesecake is a slightly special dessert: customers add the final touch themselves by pouring on Rifu pear compote and jelly, so they can enjoy the cheesecake freshly finished by their own hand.
- A recipe built to bring out Rifu pear's aroma and sweetness — made mainly with naturally derived ingredients so the pear's delicate aroma and sweetness stand out.
- A two-layer cheesecake — a smooth cheesecake layered with Rifu pear compote and jelly, balancing fruitiness, acidity, and a melt-in-the-mouth texture.
- Handmade at a workshop in Miyagi, in gift-ready packaging — each cake is carefully made by hand at a workshop in Miyagi Prefecture and packaged to be easy to give as a gift.
About Nashiré: Turning Sales Into Support for Local Initiatives
create company Inc., the company behind the brand, works under the philosophy of "designing the 22nd century," building businesses and culture worth passing on to future generations. One pillar of that work is a "town development x food" initiative: developing products with local ingredients, selling from kitchen cars and at local events, and offering products through the furusato nozei hometown tax program, all as ways to spread the appeal of the region through food. Past projects include "Rassie to.," co-developed with House Foods Corporation's Tohoku branch, "KIBOU Apple Pie" made with off-spec apples, and products co-developed with high school students. Part of the proceeds from this cheesecake will likewise go toward developing products with local ingredients and other initiatives that promote the region's appeal.
Nashiré, the brand launching this time, was born from a wish to share the appeal of Rifu pear with more people, as Japan's first sweets brand specializing in Japanese pears.
