The Nasuno Furusato Fireworks Festival returns to the Naka River in Nasushiobara, Tochigi, on Saturday, September 19, 2026, organized by the Nasuno Furusato Fireworks Festival Executive Committee.
Held on the banks of the Naka River for more than 40 years, the festival takes place once every two years and has long been a fixture of the local community. This year marks its 20th edition, and under the theme "A night this town can be proud of," about 20,000 fireworks will light up the Nasu night sky.
To mark the milestone, the festival will also feature a special 500-drone show, depicting the Nasu mountain range and local mascot characters in the sky as a tribute to the event's history and a look toward its future. The drone show will be produced by Drone Show Japan Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, represented by CEO Yuki Yamamoto).
Festival overview
Held on the banks of the Naka River for more than 40 years, the festival drew about 70,000 visitors at its last edition in 2024. Taking place once every two years, this year's festival reaches its 20th milestone. On the day, star-mine and specially designed fireworks will fill the night sky over the Naka River, alongside numerous food stalls and kitchen cars. With activities running from afternoon into the night, it's a signature community event where families, friends, and loved ones can spend the day as they like.
