Night Farm 2026 Offers Illuminated Vegetable Harvesting and Pizza-Making in Kyoto

Night Farm 2026 is a seasonal agricultural experience set in illuminated nighttime fields, where visitors can harvest Kyoto vegetables, make pizza in a stone oven, and enjoy farm-fresh food. Hosted at BNR Farm in Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto City, the event runs from July 3 (Friday) to November 3 (Tuesday), 2026.

First held in 2025, Night Farm attracted approximately 1,400 visitors over three months and drew attention as a new kind of tourism offering in the Kyoto Nishiyama area.

A New Approach to Kyoto Night Tourism

As interest in experiential travel grows and the concept of the "nighttime economy" gains traction across Japan, Night Farm takes a different approach — bringing nighttime tourism to the countryside rather than confining it to urban centers. While most nighttime tourism options remain concentrated in cities, this program uses farmland and local scenery as its stage, combining agriculture, food, and nighttime experiences to create something distinct from typical city-based offerings.

The initiative treats farmland not merely as a place of production, but as a venue where people gather and engage with the local community — converting the region's agricultural and natural landscapes into experiential value.

What's New in 2026

For 2026, Night Farm has been redesigned around the theme of "experiences that change each month." Plans include summer-only activities such as flowing somen noodle experiences and cross-industry collaboration events, along with autumn harvest specials — with full details still being finalized.

Expanding to Other Regions

Starting in 2026, Night Farm is also piloting a regional expansion through business partnerships. Plans are underway for events in Kyotanabe City (Kyoto Prefecture), Kyotamba Town (Kyoto Prefecture), and the Yatsugatake area of Nagano Prefecture, with each version tailored to the local agricultural and natural resources of the region.

2025 Track Record

In 2025, Night Farm welcomed approximately 1,400 visitors over a three-month season, drawing guests of all ages from both within and outside Kyoto Prefecture. The event received coverage from major newspapers including the Kyoto Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun, and Nihon Keizai Shimbun, as well as television programs on ABC TV, MBS TV, TBS, NTV, and KBS Kyoto, among others.
