Nijigen no Mori's Godzilla Interception Operation Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Mothra Special Exhibition

Nijigen no Mori, located on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, will host a "Mothra Special Exhibition" at the Godzilla Museum within the popular "Godzilla Interception Operation" attraction. This limited-time event commemorates the attraction's 5th anniversary and will run from December 20, 2025 (Saturday) to September 13, 2026 (Sunday).

The exhibition focuses exclusively on the Heisei Mothra series, showcasing various works featuring this beloved kaiju who stands as one of the most popular monsters in the Godzilla franchise. The Heisei Mothra series comprises three films released between 1996 and 1998, establishing Mothra as a guardian deity who protects humanity and Earth.

Exhibition Highlights

With special cooperation from TOHO Visual Art, the exhibition will feature authentic props used in filming the Heisei Mothra series, including the actual "Mothra Leo" and larval form. This marks a rare opportunity for kaiju fans to view these production materials up close.

The exhibition also includes Mothra eggs and giant 4-meter panels, creating an immersive experience that captures Mothra's heroic battles as Earth's guardian. The collection brings together displays that allow visitors to witness Mothra's valor firsthand.

About Godzilla Interception Operation

The Godzilla Interception Operation attraction centers around a full-scale, 120-meter-long Godzilla that has landed on Awaji Island—the world's largest installation of its kind. This unique entertainment experience allows visitors to truly feel Godzilla's immense power and scale.

Participants join the National Godzilla Awaji Island Research Center to undertake various missions, including a zip line that penetrates Godzilla's meticulously detailed body interior and a shooting game where players eliminate scattered Godzilla cells.

The facility also houses the world's first permanent Godzilla Museum, along with "Kaiju no Mori," a kids' area featuring approximately 50 types of kaiju soft vinyl toys available for unlimited play. The venue offers an array of merchandise from the National Godzilla Awaji Island Research Center and serves food items that capture the atmosphere of the Godzilla Interception Operation universe.

Grand Chariot Hokuto Shichisei 135° Godzilla Collaboration Room

To celebrate Godzilla's 70th anniversary, the accommodation facility Grand Chariot Hokuto Shichisei 135° offers the "Kaijuland" collaboration room, where kaiju from throughout Godzilla's film history have gathered.

The room features interior decorations and tapestries depicting various Godzilla incarnations and popular kaiju. Guests can view part of the actual-size Godzilla through the window. Special processing allows these elements to change appearance depending on light conditions, creating different atmospheres during day and night. A "special mission" challenges guests to locate all hidden kaiju throughout the room, with luxurious rewards for successful completion.
