Three New Cat "Nyanbassador" Characters Revealed for Nyanguhaku Vol.2 in Tokyo

Three new cat characters have been announced as the official 2026 nyanbassadors for Nyanguhaku, a cat-themed stationery and goods market event. Illustrated by Yuka Butter specifically for the event, the characters are distinguished by their "deadpan" expressions. They will make their debut at Nyanguhaku Vol.2, scheduled for June 20 (Saturday) and June 21 (Sunday), 2026, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center, Taito Hall.

Meet the 2026 Nyanbassadors

The three nyanbassador characters each have their own distinct personality.

2026 nyanbassador characters for Nyanguhaku

Hachiware

A devoted fan of the Nyanguhaku fairy tale "Red Riding Hood," Hachiware tends to toss any interesting stationery or goods into a basket for safekeeping. The black markings on Hachiware's coat are detachable — serving as a disguise to conceal true identity. Rumored to be a beautiful white cat underneath, Hachiware carries an air of mystery.

Chatoora

A first-year student at Nyangu University Elementary School, Chatoora is a friendly, affectionate character who warms up to new acquaintances right away. Fueling up with favorite taiyaki (fish-shaped pastry) before diving into full-on "treasure hunting," Chatoora ends up lounging belly-up after a thoroughly satisfying day.

Grey

A journalist for the Nyangu Journal, Grey uses a favorite fountain pen to jot down anything worth noting. Whenever a new notebook appears, Grey gently touches the paper first — then quietly sniffs it, performing a full Flehmen response.

The Legend of the Nyanbassadors

According to an old Nyanguhaku legend, only cats beloved by the ink fairies can become nyanbassadors. One night under a full moon, Hachiware (a devotee of fairy tales), Chatoora (who opens their heart to everyone), and Grey (who can hear the voice of paper) each discovered a mysterious invitation.

Guided by it, they wandered through the Nyanguhaku venue after closing hours and, before the Fountain of Ink, were bestowed with the mark of the nyanbassador.

Since then, the stationery recommended by these three is said to bring small strokes of luck to whoever owns it. Though some visitors report being unable to resist buying more stationery than planned whenever a white cat appears in the venue.
