Two "Gotouchi Bear" plush toys inspired by Ryuso, the traditional costume of Okinawa, are on sale from October 19, 2026. They come from Nanto Bussan Co., Ltd. (Nanto Group), headquartered in Naha, Okinawa. Colorful costumes that evoke Okinawa's traditional culture are paired with adorable teddy bears, making them a fitting souvenir or keepsake of a trip to Okinawa.
"Ryuso Bear" Brings Okinawan Tradition to a Plush Toy
The "Ryuso Bear" is a plush toy modeled on the traditional Okinawan costume handed down since the days of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Bright colors and a vivid costume are its defining features, and the design makes Okinawan history and culture feel close at hand.
The soles of the feet carry the words "I 🐻沖縄," expressing affection for Okinawa, along with embroidery modeled on Shuri Castle, one of Okinawa's most iconic historic buildings.
It works as interior decor, and it is also recommended as a memento of an Okinawa trip or a gift for someone special.
Two Distinctive Designs
Ryuso Bear (Women's Costume)
A colorful Ryuso in red and yellow tones is paired with a purple sash. A red hibiscus ornament on the head gives the bear a bright, cute, tropical Okinawan look.
Ryuso Bear (Men's Costume)
This design pairs a red-and-green costume with a distinctive black hat. Inspired by the attire of the Ryukyu Kingdom era, it conveys Okinawa's history and traditional culture.
Displaying the two side by side lets you enjoy the individuality of each costume.
