Osaka's Original Umekota 2026 Event Features 90 Plum Varieties Across 240 Trees
The Osaka Prefectural Flower Garden in Kawachinagano City is hosting its annual "Umekota" event, where visitors can enjoy plum blossom viewing while relaxing in traditional kotatsu (heated tables) outdoors. The event runs from February 11 (Wednesday) to March 8 (Sunday), 2026, featuring approximately 90 varieties and 240 plum trees.

The Umekota event has been held annually since 2010, marking its 17th year in 2026. Last year, approximately 13,000 visitors attended during the event period. Alongside the outdoor kotatsu experience, the garden's restaurant "Honeysuckle" offers a seasonal limited dessert: "Strawberry and Raspberry Macaron Milk Pie," which can be enjoyed as takeout while viewing the plum blossoms from the warmth of the kotatsu.
Additional plum-related events include "Ume Tanka" (plum-themed short poetry) and a bonsai plum exhibition, both popular annual attractions.
