Pokémon UNITE Japan National Team Coach Announcement and Selection of 10 National Team Candidates
Pokémon UNITE has been designated as an official esports title for international competition. The Japan national team coach and 10 national team candidate players have been selected from among the players who demonstrated exceptional skill at PUACL2026.
Following intensive training, the final six representative players will be decided on March 20th. These six chosen players will compete against powerhouse nations from across Asia, carrying Japan's prestige. Stay tuned for future developments!
Japan National Team Coach: TON・GG
A former esports player who won the 2024 Pokémon UNITE World Championship and received the MOBA Player of the Year award at the 2024 Esports Awards, earning high international recognition.

Comment from TON・GG
I am deeply honored to serve as the coach for the Pokémon UNITE Japan national team, and I feel a great sense of responsibility. Although I've transitioned from competing as a player to working as a streamer, my approach to competitive play remains unchanged.
If anything, having time to view the competitive scene from the outside has allowed me to recognize Japan's strengths and potential anew.
The tension of international tournaments I experienced as a player, the preparation necessary to win, and the challenges and excitement of fighting as a team—I want to give back all of that knowledge in my role as coach. What I value most is creating an environment where players can compete with confidence, and building a team that can fight with pride on the world stage as Japan's representatives. I will work with full commitment to demonstrate the power of Japanese esports.
The Japan national team candidate players will undergo intensive training sessions and other preparations for upcoming international tournaments before the final six representative players are selected. Please look forward to it!
