Keiichi Kawai, President, Niantic, Inc.:

Pokémon GO has surpassed 1 billion cumulative downloads and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. We sincerely thank all the trainers worldwide who have supported us. The experience of people actually going outside, walking through cities, meeting, and connecting has spread across generations and borders as a unique value of our game. We are very pleased to host Pokémon GO Fest: Tokyo in the special city of Tokyo during this 10th-anniversary milestone. This event also marks the beginning of a new adventure for Pokémon GO into the next 10 years. We want to celebrate this 10th anniversary with trainers and create an event where everyone can experience the many attractions of Tokyo. We look forward to welcoming everyone.

Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo:

This Pokémon GO Fest: Tokyo celebrates the 10th anniversary of Pokémon GO's launch and will be the largest scale ever, with the entire city of Tokyo, including the main venue at the waterfront subcenter, serving as the venue. Tokyo is an attractive city where tradition dating back to the Edo period coexists with innovation. Additionally, the Tokyo government has been promoting the Tokyo Green Biz initiative, and over the past five years, Tokyo's metropolitan parks have increased by approximately 40 Tokyo Dome equivalents, creating green-rich areas where Pokémon would naturally inhabit. We hope everyone will discover Tokyo's charm together with the Pokémon.

Ai Seike, Mayor of Minato Ward:

Daiba, which will be the main venue for Pokémon GO Fest: Tokyo, is a waterfront town representing Minato Ward. We hope visitors will enjoy the unique charm of Minato Ward, where the sea and city harmonize. Minato Ward has numerous tourism resources imbued with history, culture, and international character, including Tokyo Tower in Shiba, as well as Azabu, Roppongi, Akasaka, Aoyama, and Takanawa. We plan to conduct various collaborative initiatives with local shopping districts and tourist facilities throughout the ward during the event. We hope event participants will visit various locations in the ward, including Daiba, and experience the diverse attractions of Minato Ward.

Tomoka Okubo, Mayor of Koto Ward:

Koto Ward is blessed with abundant natural environment rich in water and greenery, and it is also a warm-hearted town where history and culture inherited from our predecessors live on. For this Pokémon GO Fest: Tokyo, we plan to implement collaboration projects at various locations throughout the ward, including shopping districts. We hope everyone will visit many places in Koto Ward while enjoying Pokémon GO and experience its many attractions.

Kyoko Morisawa, Mayor of Shinagawa Ward:

Shinagawa Ward is a town rich in diverse attractions, where nostalgia and newness coexist, with historical spots such as the old Tokaido Shinagawa-juku post town, nearly 100 vibrant shopping districts, and waterfront areas along canals and rivers. During Pokémon GO Fest, please visit Shinagawa Ward and enjoy the new cityscapes and scenery of Tennoz Isle and the townscapes retaining the atmosphere of Edo period along the old Tokaido.

Takato Utsunomiya, COO, The Pokémon Company:

We are very pleased to host the first real-world Pokémon GO Fest in Tokyo during this milestone year celebrating Pokémon's 30th anniversary and Pokémon GO's 10th anniversary. We sincerely thank all the trainers worldwide who love Pokémon and play Pokémon GO. We will continue to work with our partner Niantic and local governments to deliver exciting experiences.

About Pokémon GO Fest

Pokémon GO Fest is the largest real-world event for Pokémon GO, held once a year in three cities selected from different regions worldwide (Asia-Pacific/Europe/Americas), where trainers from around the world gather to enjoy exploration together. Since its first edition in Chicago, USA in 2018, it has been held in major cities worldwide, providing a unique community experience where numerous trainers travel across borders to participate.

This year's Pokémon GO Fest is scheduled for three cities worldwide: Tokyo, Japan; Chicago, USA; and Copenhagen, Denmark.

During the event period, the designated areas are transformed into the world of Pokémon GO. The main venue features special decorations and photo spots, along with areas where trainers can interact in person. The game includes encounters with special Pokémon that are usually difficult to find, global challenges where players can cooperate with trainers worldwide, and numerous activities that fuse real-world and digital elements unique to Pokémon GO. Events are also planned for those without tickets, including Pokémon greetings, creating a real-world event where visitors can enjoy the wonderful attractions of the host region through Pokémon GO.

About Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO is a location-based mobile game app that uses smartphone location information to play in the real world itself. Players become "trainers" and can go outside and walk to catch Pokémon that appear as they move, or battle with other trainers.

Pokémon GO launched in July 2016 and celebrates its 10th anniversary milestone in 2026. Creating a worldwide social phenomenon immediately after launch, it continues to generate new discoveries and connections in daily life through AR (augmented reality) technology. Currently, with over 1 billion cumulative downloads, it is enjoyed by trainers worldwide.
