Festival of SANGENJAYA 2026 Fills Sangenjaya's Plazas and Streets on November 28 and 29

Festival of SANGENJAYA 2026 takes place across the Sangenjaya area on Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29, 2026.

Sangenjaya hosts events and festivals of every size throughout the year, including the Sancha Latin Festival (三茶ラテンフェスティバル), the Awa Odori dance on Sakae-dori, and Sancha de Daidogei (三茶de大道芸). The largest festival in the neighborhood is Festival of SANGENJAYA (三茶縁日), which started in November 2025 and returns this autumn. It is built by the area's shopping streets, creators, residents, and workers together with Setagaya City, which is working on the neighborhood's urban development. Plazas, parking lots, and pedestrian-only roads that people usually just walk past fill with activities for both adults and children.

The festival is centered on public spaces at 10 venues around Sangenjaya. Over two days, the venues host a marché for tasting delicious food, markets for discovering unique finds, exciting play areas, and workshops.

A stamp rally also runs through four points within the venues. Collecting stamps earns a turn at a capsule-toy machine with no losing draws, which makes the festival a good fit for families exploring the neighborhood together.

The 10 Venues and What's Happening at Each

Details on each area's exhibitors are scheduled to be introduced on the official Instagram account in the coming weeks.

• 1. Fureai Plaza -- HAVE A GOOOD MARKET: A local indie market bringing together music, food, and general goods, held in the plaza in front of Seiyu along Chazawa-dori.
• 2. Sangenjaya Community Hall -- Public Space Design Exercise Exhibition "Sancha CROSSING": An exhibition of public space design by students in the community development program at Kokushikan University, themed around the people, things, and happenings of Sangenjaya that intersect in the neighborhood.
• 3. Times Taishido No. 9 -- Fuwafuwa BASE: Bouncy play equipment appears in an everyday parking lot, turning it into a plaza where adults and children can relax with food and drinks in hand.
• 4. Setagaya Line Station Plaza -- YO! FRIEND MARKET: An art market of local creators, organized by the art collective A.N.D.
• 5. Sancha Patio -- 100 Materials x 100 Ideas Kodomo Department Store (100素材×100ひらめき コドモデパート): A children's craft "department store" set up along the passage between the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line and the Setagaya Line, where kids can freely make original works.
• 6. Sakae-dori -- the market SANGENJAYA ONE: A food and art market where well-known Sangenjaya shops and creators come together, offering encounters that enrich everyday life.

The following four venues are along Chazawa-dori, which is open to the festival on November 29 only.

• 7. Chazawa-dori North -- Taishi do it Village (太子do it 村): A flea market run by shopping street members, with Awa Odori and music selected by DJs, plus imoni stew to enjoy.
• 8. Chazawa-dori South A -- Sanchawan Ennichi 2026 (三茶わん縁日2026): The signature festival event of the Sangenjaya Ginza Shopping Street, with coloring pages and shooting games. Heaven Artists are scheduled to visit this year.
• 9. Chazawa-dori South B -- DIY Street Park: A space of DIY furniture and attractions created by students from the urban design laboratory at Kokushikan University.
• 10. Chazawa-dori South C -- Sangenjaya Share House Alliance (三軒茶屋シェアハウス連合軍): A market planned by current residents and graduates of Sangenjaya share houses, with fried foods, sweets, books, and goods on sale.
