SENDAI UMINOMORI AQUARIUM will hold a Halloween event called "UMINOMORI HALLOWEEN" from October 19 (Monday) to November 1 (Sunday), 2026. A special Halloween tank called the "Trick!? Tank" will appear, and the dolphin, sea lion, and bird performances will get Halloween versions, turning the aquarium Halloween-colored for the two-week event.
Halloween Special Tank: "Trick!? Tank"
Under the theme "surprising to look at, surprising to learn about," a special Halloween tank called the "Trick!? Tank" will appear. It will display creatures not normally on show, including the translucent glass catfish, whose body is see-through enough to look like a skeleton; the blind cave tetra, an eerie fish with degenerated eyes; and the Yaeyama giant stick insect, which hides itself through Halloween-costume-like camouflage. The tank also has a peephole for viewing some especially eerie-looking creatures. Enjoy the Halloween mood with creatures the keepers have mischievously handpicked for the "Trick!? Tank."

STUDIUM LIVE Halloween Ver.
Sea lions will perform with pumpkins, and dolphins will show off dynamic jumps set to Halloween music, for a seasonal show found only at this time of year. Trainers will also appear in costume, bringing the whole venue into the Halloween spirit together.

Otaria Friendly Time & Penguin Friendly Time Halloween Ver.
The popular programs "Otaria (South American Sea Lion) Friendly Time" and "Penguin Friendly Time," where visitors can touch the animals and take photos, will get Halloween versions. Pumpkins will decorate the area around the sea lions and penguins, and a Halloween-only photo mount design will be used, letting visitors feel the Halloween mood together with the animals.

Sea Urchin Lantern Making — It Looks Like a Pumpkin?
Instead of a jack-o'-lantern, UMINOMORI HALLOWEEN will hold a "Sea Urchin Lantern Making Workshop" using sea urchin shells, on weekends only.

Umino-Mori Halloween Night Aquarium
After closing on October 25 (Sunday) and 31 (Saturday), 2026, the aquarium will hold its special two-night event, "Umino-Mori Halloween Night Aquarium." The night will feature plenty of content found only after hours, including a kid-friendly night dolphin performance and greetings with costumed staff. Guests can spend a fun Halloween night with the animals in an aquarium that has a very different atmosphere from daytime. October 25 is open only to guests with an annual passport, for the aquarium's first-ever costume event; on October 31, Halloween Day itself, the night dolphin performance will be held twice, so more guests can enjoy this special Halloween night.

This special night dolphin performance will be held on these two nights only. Set to Halloween music, it combines nighttime lighting effects with the dolphins' dynamic jumps. Watch for the trainers' back-and-forth with the audience and their Halloween costumes. Enjoy a performance with a different flavor from the daytime show, for guests of all ages.

"Sparkling of Life," the dynamic premium show in which about 25,000 Japanese sardines swim in a school in the large tank "Sparkling Sea of Life," will get a Halloween version. Enjoy the sardines shining in a different way from daytime, set to Halloween music.
