The Senshu Beach Lantern Festival Vol. 7 is coming to SENNAN LONG PARK and Tarui Southern Beach in Sennan, Osaka on July 4 (Saturday) and 5 (Sunday), 2026. As a special Expo tie-in, this year's edition introduces red and blue lanterns alongside the signature orange, giving attendees a choice of three colors to send into the night sky above the coast.

As evening falls over the beach and the coastal sunset fades, thousands of lanterns ascend into the sky in a spectacle that has drawn crowds to the Senshu shoreline every summer.
Three Colors to Choose From — First Come, First Served
In previous years the festival featured only the classic orange lantern. For the seventh edition, special red and blue lanterns have been added as part of a collaboration tied to Expo 2025, whose signature colors generated excitement throughout Osaka. Visitors can choose whichever color resonates most and release their wishes into the sky.
The Myaku-Myaku statue installed at SENNAN LONG PARK is also on-site this summer — details are available through the Sennan City official website.

The three-color lanterns are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Activities, Performances, and a Handmade Workshop
The festival offers plenty to do in the hours leading up to the lantern launch at 7:30 PM.
Activities

The festival grounds include traditional festival games (ennichi) and an oversized bounce castle. Two new additions make their debut this year: a beach treasure hunt — where participants dig through the sand to find hidden prizes — and a water gun battle, open to adults and children alike.
Performance Stage

Top-level street performers bring high-energy acts to the stage at opening and again in the late afternoon. Local community groups also take the stage, adding a regional character to the lineup.
Handmade Marine Keychain Workshop

A drop-in workshop lets visitors craft a marine-themed keychain to take home — a hands-on summer memory to complement the lantern experience.
Lantern-Making Volunteer Opportunity

The festival is also recruiting volunteers to help assemble lanterns and support event operations. No prior experience is needed. Applications are accepted through Activo.
