Shochikubai Shirakabegura Daiginjo Gold Prize Sake Goes on Sale in Limited Quantities on November 2

Shochikubai Shirakabegura Daiginjo Gold Prize Sake, a sake from Takara Shuzo Co., Ltd. that won a gold prize at the Reiwa 8 (2026) National New Sake Appraisal, goes on sale in limited quantities on Monday, November 2, 2026.

The National New Sake Appraisal is a nationwide sake competition co-hosted by the National Research Institute of Brewing and the Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association. Shochikubai Shirakabegura has entered the appraisal since Heisei 15 (2003) and has won 19 gold prizes in 22 years of entries.

This sake is the entry that won the gold prize at the Reiwa 8 (2026) appraisal. It is brewed with 100% Yamada Nishiki rice from Tojo, Hyogo Prefecture, polished to a 35% rice polishing ratio, and made with "Miyamizu," the renowned spring water of Nada. Much of the brewing process is done by hand, and the daiginjo is crafted with close attention to detail. It is known for its vibrant ginjo aroma and a mellow taste in which sweetness and acidity are in harmony.

Note: The final judging of the National New Sake Appraisal for the Reiwa 1 brewing year was canceled, and no gold prizes were awarded that year.

100% Tojo Yamada Nishiki from Hyogo, 35% Rice Polishing Ratio

Only Yamada Nishiki grown in Tojo, Hyogo Prefecture, is used. Yamada Nishiki is highly regarded among sake rice varieties. The rice is carefully polished for about 70 hours down to a 35% polishing ratio, and the sake is brewed with Nada's famous "Miyamizu" water.
