Sirotan Funwari Store in Harajuku Marks Its 1st Anniversary as a Flagship Draw for Fans From Japan and Abroad, With a Fair From September 18

The Sirotan Funwari Store on Harajuku's Takeshita Street, run by Creative Yoko Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture), is marking its 1st anniversary in September 2026.

Since opening, the store has drawn a steady stream of fans from Japan and overseas seeking comfort from Sirotan, recording around 26,000 visitors over the year (an average of more than 2,000 per month). Sales for fiscal 2025 also came in at more than 170% of budget, far exceeding the original plan.

The store's tax-free sales now account for over 20% of total sales, reflecting strong inbound demand centered on Asia. Throughout the year, it has become a key hub for sending Sirotan's appeal out into the world, not just within Japan. Regular events — including the "Sirotan BABY-G Handover Event," a collaboration with the watch brand BABY-G held in December 2025 — and Harajuku-exclusive items have helped the store keep growing as a flagship location that deepens fan engagement.

"1st Anniversary" Fair

To mark a year of thanks, the store is holding its "1st Anniversary" fair from Friday, September 18, featuring Harajuku-exclusive items and novelties made with limited-edition art.

Ahead of the TV anime "Sirotan" premiering Saturday, October 3, the store is also currently hosting a fan-participation "Sirotan Anime Commemorative Message Board" event.

The store aims to keep delivering comfort and smiles as a special destination where domestic fans, overseas visitors, and newcomers discovering Sirotan through the anime can all experience its charm.

The store continues to operate as usual throughout the construction period, and the team looks forward to welcoming visitors as always. Please note the construction period may end a few days early depending on conditions.

About Sirotan

Sirotan is an original character modeled after a harp seal, embodying the ideas of comfort, healing, encouragement, and connection. Since its debut in 1999, its soft-to-the-touch plush toys have been its main products, and its rounded form and gentle expression have brought comfort and peace to customers across generations.

Starting October 3, 2026, Sirotan's long-awaited TV anime will begin airing every Saturday at 4:29 PM on TV Asahi.
