Spielvan Episode 1 Set to Air in 4K Negative Scan HD Remaster on TOKYO MX on October 11, 2026

TOKYO MX will broadcast Episode 1 of the tokusatsu drama Spielvan in a 4K negative scan HD remaster on Sunday, October 11, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM.

Spielvan is the fifth entry in the Metal Hero series, originally airing across 44 episodes from April 1986 to March 1987. Spielvan escapes from the destroyed planet Klin, which was invaded by the evil Warlar Empire, and crystallizes into a time warrior to rescue his captured father and sister. The series also introduced the Metal Hero franchise's first transforming heroine, Diana Lady (and Helen Lady), and became a fan favorite.

As the second title in the "Let's Decide Together! Toei Tokusatsu Blu-ray Commercialization PROJECT," a Blu-ray BOX has been selected for release on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. This special broadcast of Episode 1 in a 4K negative scan HD remaster celebrates that upcoming Blu-ray BOX release.

Introduction

Spielvan is the fifth entry in the Metal Hero series, broadcast on the TV Asahi network across 44 episodes from April 1986 to March 1987.

Spielvan escapes from the destroyed planet Klin, which was invaded by the evil Warlar Empire, and crystallizes into a time warrior to rescue his captured father and sister. The series, which also introduced the Metal Hero franchise's first transforming heroine, Diana Lady (and Helen Lady), and won a devoted following, is now finally released 40 years later in a high-definition 4K remastered Blu-ray BOX.

The lead role is played by Hiroshi Watari, who also played Den Iga, the hero of Space Sheriff Sharivan — which also drew attention as he is the only actor to have starred as the lead twice in the Metal Hero series.

The heroine Diana is played by Makoto Sumikawa, who, like lead actor Watari, belonged to JAC (Japan Action Club) at the time. Naomi Morinaga, known for her role as Annie in Space Sheriff Shaider, rounds out the cast as Spielvan's sister, Helen.

Story

Fourteen years earlier, Spielvan and Diana's home planet, Klin, was destroyed by the evil Warlar Empire, and the two fled to Earth. Now, the Warlar Empire has begun an invasion of Earth to seize its fresh water.

Spielvan (known on Earth as Yosuke Jo) and Diana become time warriors to protect Earth and to rescue Spielvan's captured father and sister, fighting against the Warlar Empire.
