New Pokémon-themed Japanese costumes and custom chromakey backgrounds are coming to Studio Alice photo studios, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pokémon. Starting April 17, 2026 (Friday), select locations will offer the new "Pokémon Japanese Costume" sessions — a photo experience that draws a parallel between "Pokémon evolving" and "children growing up," designed to be enjoyed by both children and the parents who grew up with the original Pokémon Red and Green.
The session is available from a child's first birthday through Shichi-Go-San milestone celebrations.
New Pokémon Japanese Costumes
Three new Japanese-style children's costumes have been added, each tailored to a different age and celebration.
26PK-01 (80cm) — First Birthday

Designed for a child's first birthday, this costume features Eevee and its evolved forms to express the idea of growth through evolution. Rather than a traditional hifu vest, the design takes the form of a hooded hifu inspired by Eevee, with a large tail attached to the back that adds a costume-like playfulness.
26PK-02 (100cm) — Shichi-Go-San (Age 3)

Themed around partner Pokémon passed down across generations, the back of this costume features the silhouettes of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise — the evolved starters from Pokémon Red and Green. Traditional classic patterns are woven together with water, grass, and fire motifs from the Pokémon world. This size also introduces a "Poké Ball haori cord" for the first time, with a matching design shared with the 110cm size.
26PK-03 (110cm) — Shichi-Go-San (Age 5)

Mewtwo, Miraidon, and Koraidon are featured prominently on the back, surrounded by legendary Pokémon from across the franchise's 30-year history. The seven colors of the Poké Ball used in the costume's design symbolize happiness and healthy growth. A matching "Poké Ball haori cord" — the same design as the 100cm size — is introduced here for the first time.
New Pokémon Exclusive Chromakey Backgrounds
Alongside the costumes, Studio Alice has prepared exclusive chromakey backgrounds for the Pokémon Japanese Costume sessions.
Full-Body: "Adventure Partner"

This backdrop features Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, the legendary Mew, and Pikachu depicted in a Japanese painting style. It is exclusive to the Pokémon Japanese Costume session and can also be used for sibling photos.
Half-Body: "First Three" (3 Designs)

Three individual backdrops — each featuring one of Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise — allow children to select their favorite color or Pokémon. The design is intended for parents and children to enjoy together.
Infant-Size Exclusive: "Sunlit Bond"

Created specifically for the 80cm infant costume, this background features all eight Eevee evolutions set against a traditional Japanese landscape. Two layout options are available: a chair-seated version and a floor-seated version, allowing flexibility to match different shooting styles.
Sibling Background

A soft, pastel-toned background coordinated with the infant-size costume, dotted with Eevee evolution silhouettes, Japanese-style icon motifs, and Poké Balls. Photos can also be taken with the Eevee hood removed.
Available at select stores. Check the Studio Alice official website for participating locations.
Pokémon marks its 30th anniversary in 2026, three decades after the launch of Pokémon Red and Green on February 27, 1996. The new Studio Alice collection is designed so families spanning multiple generations can celebrate the milestone together.
