Sunshine 60 Observatory Tenbo Park (サンシャイン60展望台 てんぼうパーク) in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, will hold a special opening on New Year's Day 2027 so that up to 212 guests can watch the first sunrise of the year. Titled "Sunshine 60 Observatory Tenbo Park 2027 First Sunrise Special Opening" (サンシャイン60展望台 てんぼうパーク 2027年 初日の出 特別営業), the event lets visitors see Tokyo turn orange in the morning light from the observatory, 251 meters above sea level.
Every guest receives an original commemorative item that is available only at this event. Special plans that sell out every year return as well: a ring-shaped, swing-style bench area for one group of up to 3 people, and pair seat plans limited to 10 groups of 20 people in total.
Guests can watch the first sun of 2027 rise from seats set up in the front row at the east-facing windows, where the sunrise can be seen.

- The ring-shaped swing-style bench area for up to 3 people is the premium area, sold in a nod to the "3 (SUN)" in "SUNRISE." Only one person can sit on the bench itself.
- Pair Seat plans A to C each include admission for up to 2 people.
- All plans come with the commemorative first sunrise goods.

- Regular advance tickets, special admission tickets, and complimentary tickets cannot be used for this event.
- No tickets are sold on the day. Each plan ends sales when it runs out.
- Tenbo Park CAFE is closed during the special opening.
- Depending on the weather on the day, poor visibility may make the sunrise impossible to see. No refunds are given after a plan has been purchased.
- Elevators are expected to be crowded just before the expected sunrise time, so please allow plenty of time to arrive.
Commemorative First Sunrise Goods
Visitors on the day receive an original charm set (3 designs), available only at this event. The designs are inspired by the sheep, the 2027 zodiac animal, and the observatory's original characters. The charms can be attached to bags, plastic bottles, umbrellas, and other belongings, and the set of three also allows "jara-tsuke" (じゃら付け), attaching them together.

Hotel Stay Plan at Sunshine City Prince Hotel
Sunshine City Prince Hotel (サンシャインシティプリンスホテル), next to the observatory, will offer the "2027 New Year First Sunrise Plan" (2027年新春初日の出プラン), a stay plan that includes the first sunrise viewing, limited to 10 guests. Because the hotel is adjacent to the venue, the walk to the observatory is short.

- Viewing with this plan is from a standing position. To use the ring-shaped swing-style bench or a Pair Seat plan, a separate purchase is required.
Lion Dance Parade
On January 1 (Friday, national holiday) and January 2 (Saturday) only, a lion dance (shishimai) parade will walk through Sunshine 60 Observatory Tenbo Park. Being bitten on the head by the lion is said to ward off evil and bring a year of happiness.
