Suntory's -196 <Kyoho Grape> Chuhai Hits Shelves Nationwide for a Limited Time

A limited-edition addition to Suntory's -196 (Ichikyuroku) lineup is coming back: -196 <Kyoho Grape> will go on sale nationwide from September 22, 2026 (Tuesday).

The -196 brand has been around since 2005 and is known for its proprietary "-196°C brewing method." Within the brand, the "fruit-forward chuhai" -196 series has been a hit since its launch last July, with cumulative sales surpassing 150 million bottles within a year (350ml equivalent, as of July 28), driven by its fresh, fruit-like taste and vibrant packaging.

This time, the Kyoho Grape flavor that proved popular last year returns for a limited release, aiming to further expand the brand's fan base.

Flavor

The Kyoho Grape variety uses a macerate of Kyoho grapes produced with the -196°C brewing method. Suntory's signature blending technique brings out what the brand describes as "the juicy freshness and clean, crisp taste of Kyoho grapes."

Packaging

The can features a Kyoho grape-themed background with an illustration of the fruit prominently displayed in the center, designed to convey the drink's characteristics at a glance. The label also includes the words "Grown in Yamanashi" to highlight the quality of the fruit used.
