TOKUJI YAKUSOU, a brand that brings the medicinal herb culture long handed down in the Tokuji (徳地) area of Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, into modern lifestyles, has opened an official brand site at https://tokujiyakusou.jp/.
Until now the brand has sold its products through its online shop. The new site will also serve as a brand media outlet that tells how the wild herb tea, a gift of the mountains, is made, shows the artisans' handwork, and shares "life with medicinal herbs" (薬草のある暮らし).
Why the Brand Site Was Launched
Through e-commerce platforms, TOKUJI YAKUSOU has delivered wild herb tea nurtured by Tokuji's rich nature to customers across Japan. Over time, it received more and more questions such as "How is this tea made?" and "What kind of place is Tokuji?" The brand came to feel that it needed a place that conveys not only the products but also the people, things, and stories (ひと・もの・こと) behind them, carefully and in depth.
Tokuji's wild herb tea is the result of careful, precise work by the Tokuji Kenkocha Kigyo Kumiai (とくぢ健康茶企業組合), which pays close attention to every step from natural drying to roasting and does not rely too heavily on machines. The new site shares the artisans' handwork and the wisdom of life lived alongside nature through content such as its magazine.

What the Official Brand Site Offers
ABOUT & MAGAZINE
The site delivers Tokuji's nature and its people, things, and stories (ひと・もの・こと). Wild herbs, a gift of the mountains, are picked, dried, and roasted, and then enjoyed as tea. "TOKUJI YAKUSOU MAGAZINE" will be published regularly, conveying this daily health care (養生) handed down in Tokuji and the thoughts of the people involved.

Smooth Link to the Online Shop
After reading about the thinking behind the products and the stories behind them on the brand site, visitors can move smoothly to the existing online shop to make a purchase.
Future Plans: From Tea to a Journey That Experiences Tokuji Itself
Beyond simply drinking wild herb tea, a homestay-style tour is also being planned. Visitors would travel to Tokuji, learn about its medicinal herb culture and history, and take part in activities such as harvesting wild herbs. By interacting with local people and nature and experiencing the way of life and culture handed down in Tokuji with all five senses, the brand hopes to carry the appeal of the region into the future.
Passing On Japan's Original Landscape, Which May Disappear in 20 Years, Through a Cup of Tea

Tokuji in Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is surrounded by mountains. A life lived alongside nature and a culture rooted in the land are still alive here.
Tokuji has five marginal settlements (限界集落) without water supply or sewage systems. A way of life lived alongside nature and a medicinal herb culture handed down for about 840 years, such as ishiburo (石風呂) stone baths, still remain there. However, because of population decline, these local ways of life may be lost within 20 years.
By delivering delicious wild herb tea, the brand says it wants to help people get to know the Tokuji area, create new value for the producers' work, and pass on the satoyama culture and ways of life that remain across Japan to the next generation. Getting to know a region through a cup of tea and leaving it for the future: TOKUJI YAKUSOU says it will work toward that future through partnerships, valuing its ties with a variety of people and companies.
