Long-Awaited Reprint of 1966 Ultra Q Soft Vinyl Hand Puppet Figures Kanegon and Garamon

The first wave of Ultra Q hand puppet (手踊り) soft vinyl figures — featuring Kanegon and Garamon from the classic 1966 tokusatsu series — is now available for pre-order from Masudaya Saito Boeki. This release follows the earlier Ultraman hand puppet series, which featured Ultraman and Alien Baltan.

The original figures were commercially released in 1966, the same year Ultra Q aired, making them among the earliest soft vinyl kaiju toys sold in Japan. For this reprint, measurements were taken directly from surviving vintage pieces to reproduce the same dimensions. The clay-model-like softness of the sculpt and the hand-painted finish — with its natural individual variation from piece to piece — have been preserved, giving each figure a warmth and character distinct from uniformly manufactured goods. The soft PVC material also recreates the tactile quality associated with vintage Japanese toys.

Because the figures are sized to match the original 1966 specifications, adult hands may not fit comfortably inside. They are also suited for display and collection purposes.
