Ultraman's 60th Anniversary Event "ULTRA SUMMER in IKEBUKURO" Comes to Ikebukuro PARCO

Ikebukuro PARCO is partnering with Tsuburaya Productions to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ultraman Series through an event called "ULTRA SUMMER in IKEBUKURO." The campaign runs from July 3 (Friday) to July 16 (Thursday), 2026.

The event features key visuals drawn by artist TAPPEI, an exclusive pop-up shop with apparel and limited merchandise, a lottery for rare goods, a dining campaign, and an SNS giveaway.

Visual Design

The campaign visual was created by artist TAPPEI, who has previously collaborated with Ikebukuro PARCO on solo exhibitions. Using his distinctive pen style, TAPPEI depicted a blue sky and clouds that evoke a sense of imagined wonder — a backdrop for a fantastical Ultraman.

TAPPEI's Comment

Ultraman is a hero everyone has longed to be — and I'm no exception. As a child, I tried countless times to fire a Specium Ray. I was convinced I could do it, but since nobody fell down, I guess it never quite worked.

Getting to fire that ray in my own way this time felt like another dream come true. And I realized: maybe anyone can be Ultraman in their own way. Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity.

About TAPPEI

Artist, tattoo artist, and graphic designer. Born in 1993 in Osaka Prefecture. Drawn to art and tattooing from an early age, TAPPEI studied at Kobe Design University's Art & Craft department before dropping out to launch his career as a tattoo artist — treating skin itself as a canvas. He later established TAPPEI ROOM, a tattoo studio and office in Nakameguro. In 2022, he announced collaborations with NIKE, UNDERCOVER, and BEAMS, among others. In 2023, he began guest tattoo work overseas and a four-panel manga series in culture magazine EYESCREAM. He continues to treat every surface — canvas, body, print, clothing — as a space for creative expression.


1. ULTRAMAN LIMITED POP UP SHOP With MONSTROUSA — PARCO First Appearance

The Shimokitazawa-based apparel brand MONSTROUSA is making its PARCO debut with a pop-up shop full of art-forward and fashion-oriented Ultraman Series items. Newly commissioned artist collaboration designs make their first appearance here, with a focus on Ultra Heroes rather than the monsters that usually take center stage — sure to delight fans.

A popular LIVE PRINT session will also take place in-store, where visitors can watch their own T-shirts get custom-printed on the spot with Ultraman and kaiju designs.

Also at Shibuya PARCO: "SHUWATCH with U" Exhibition

Running concurrently at PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO (Shibuya PARCO 4F), a special exhibition titled "SHUWATCH with U" celebrates the Ultraman Series' 60th anniversary. Curated by NANZUKA, the show invites 12 artists from Japan and abroad to reinterpret Ultraman through paintings, sculpture, and other media. The key visual features a work by Vance Yuan, an artist garnering international attention for his transparent, street-graffiti-based aesthetic.

Heroes and monsters. Light and darkness. Imagination and the future. Japan's iconic franchise expands outward from Tokyo's Shibuya once again.

About the Ultraman Series

The Ultraman Series began broadcasting in 1966 with Ultra Q and Ultraman, and has been beloved across generations for 60 years. Known for spectacular special effects and inventive storytelling, the series follows Ultraman's battles against monsters and aliens to protect the peace of the universe. Since Ultraman, new heroes such as Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Zero have appeared across the decades, and the series continues to be broadcast and developed both in Japan and internationally.
