Product Description
A Permanent Collection of All Available Materials
This product includes materials from the "prehistory" stage before the birth of "Valkyrie no Bōken: The Legend of the Key of Time." The earliest materials related to this game date back to May 1985. Design documents from the project's inception, carefully preserved by the developers of that time. According to these, in the early stages it was given the simple title "Valkyrie," and the game concept itself differed from the final product. This was an era when "RPGs" as such didn't yet exist on the Family Computer (the FC version of "The Tower of Druaga" was released in August 1985), and you can read about the process of exploring whether a full-fledged RPG would be accepted on the Family Computer platform, which had been dominated by action and shooting games. This series of materials serves as valuable clues for unraveling gaming history.
Including Design Documents for Unreleased Games
The second installment in the series, "Valkyrie no Densetsu," was released as an arcade game in 1989. However, other games were planned during the intervening period, and this product also includes remaining materials about such "phantom projects." The series continued with the Super Famicom's "Sandra's Great Adventure: Encounter with Valkyrie," and the PlayStation "Namco Anthology 2" remake of "Valkyrie no Bōken." Design documents and artwork created up to this point (including unreleased titles) have been included in this product as much as possible.
Beautiful Art by Hiroshi Fuji
Hiroshi Fuji consistently handled character and world design throughout the "Valkyrie" series. Illustrations and conceptual roughs by Fuji have been comprehensively included as much as possible. In addition to character design, Hiroshi Fuji created image boards that built the worldview for successive series titles, and including sketches that weren't actually used in the games, these amount to a vast quantity. These have also been published without omission to the extent they could be collected. Landscapes of Marvel Land never seen before come back to life after a long time.
Comprehensive Series Soundtrack
The included soundtracks are all newly recorded. This is the first soundtrack to provide a complete overview of the series, including works that never had soundtracks released before.

"Valkyrie no Densetsu" (1990 PC Engine)

Game CD-ROM "Valkyrie no Eikou" Included as a Bonus with This Product (Developed by: G-Mode Inc.)
Released in 2007 as a feature phone application, "Valkyrie no Eikou" is a side-scrolling action game that inherits the series' worldview. While it was distributed as a game for feature phones from various carriers, the service has now ended and it cannot be played. For this 40th anniversary commemoration, "Valkyrie no Eikou" has been ported for the first time as an application playable on Windows. These are included on a dedicated CD-ROM. Despite being distributed apps, these games that could no longer be played are now available in a permanent edition you can keep on hand.
※ All dates are those written in the design documents.
※ This product will also be sold through general distribution channels other than Asobi Store by SB Creative.
About "Valkyrie no Bōken"
Released in August 1986 as a Family Computer game by Namco (now Bandai Namco Entertainment), this is an action RPG. Players control the protagonist "Valkyrie," defeating enemies to gain experience points and leveling up by staying at inns. Collect items throughout various locations, defeat the embodiment of evil "Zouna," and restore peace to Marvel Land.
Following the success of this title, the sequel "Valkyrie no Densetsu" was released as an arcade game in 1989, followed by "Sandra's Great Adventure: Encounter with Valkyrie" for the Super Famicom in 1992, expanding the series. Additionally, 1996 saw the Windows digital comic "Valkyrie no Densetsu Gaiden: Rosa's Adventure," and 1998's PlayStation "Namco Anthology 2" included both the original and arranged versions of "Valkyrie no Bōken: The Legend of the Key of Time." The series continued with 2007's feature phone "Valkyrie no Eikou" and 2009's feature phone "Valkyrie no Eikou 2."
The series continues to be ported to various gaming platforms through to 2025, remaining a popular game title and beloved game characters.
