THE THOUSAND KYOTO, the flagship hotel of the Keihan Group in Kyoto (Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; General Manager: Miwa Sakurai), will host a solo exhibition by artist Wei-Ni Lu at the art gallery on the first floor entrance, co-organized with Kyoto City University of Arts, starting from January 10, 2026 (Saturday).
Lu uses fragments of everyday landscapes and personal memories as material, primarily working with silkscreen printing techniques. She finds value in unintentional "errors" such as "misalignment," "bleeding," and "missing parts" that occur during the "copying" process of printing and reproduction. Through repeated cycles of copying and errors, she creates new landscapes that reconstruct easily overlooked everyday scenes and bring fresh discoveries. The exhibition will feature Lu's representative works along with recent balloon-based pieces, offering visitors a sense of moving between the boundaries of reality and virtuality, original and copy.
As a "Sustainable Comfort Hotel" that delivers comfortable and inspiring experiences for people, society, and the future, THE THOUSAND KYOTO sends art scenes from the Kyoto Station area and supports cultural and artistic activities in Kyoto.

Artist Statement
I collect fragments of landscapes from daily life and, through repeated cycles of copying and errors in the printing and reproduction process, play with my own drawings and photo archives, printing new landscape works in a manner similar to gardening.
In recent works, I have become caught on the keyword "wallpaper," borrowing the bodies of ready-made products such as handkerchiefs and balloons while increasingly focusing on the relationship between subject/support and background. Slightly inflating balloons or the wind gently swaying the works creates a fluid and unstable state. While slightly shifting fragments and order of daily life, I print in a way that plays with the difference between print and reality, accepting the "misalignment" born between copies as a positive fluctuation.
