In Hall 7, the special program "Kaettekita Ultra Kaiju Wonfes" will be held as a collaboration with the Ultraman series, with the cooperation of Tsuburaya Productions.

"Ultra Kaiju Wonfes," held at Wonder Festival 2026 [Winter] in February 2026, was well received, and it returns in response to the many requests to hold it again. As with the 2026 [Winter] edition, it is a special program commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Ultraman series, planned to show the appeal of Ultra kaiju (monsters) and the depth of sculpting.

Details on the program will be published later on the special website. Other programs for Wonder Festival 2027 [Winter] are also being prepared, with more announcements to come.

Message on the Two-Day Format From the Executive Committee

Shuichi Miyawaki, Representative of the Wonder Festival Executive Committee and Advisor to Kaiyodo Co., Ltd.

Shuichi Miyawaki, Representative of the Wonder Festival Executive Committee and Advisor to Kaiyodo Co., Ltd., describes the two-day Wonder Festival 2027 [Winter] as a major challenge for the organizers.

Since the summer of 1992, when Kaiyodo took over as host of Wonder Festival from General Products, the event has consistently been held for one day. Kaiyodo, which works in the field of sculpture, had little experience with event operations, and the organizers felt at the time that a one-day event suited their abilities.

Wonder Festival has since grown year by year into one of the world's leading sculpture events. The Wonder Festivals held overseas all run for two days or more, and on visits to those venues, he was struck by how both exhibiting dealers and visitors take their time enjoying the world of sculpture.

He acknowledges that a two-day format increases the burden on dealers. However, it has become difficult to see more than ten thousand works across more than 2,000 booths in a single day. The organizers want visitors to enjoy more fully what Wonder Festival is about: looking closely at works, talking with their makers, and acquiring pieces they like. The record-high number of participating dealers for this two-day edition is, in his words, a sign of Wonder Festival's new potential and a very welcome development.

He adds that the stars of Wonder Festival have always been the sculptors who make what they want to make with their own hands, and that the organizers hope to keep developing it as a place where their passion and works meet the people who seek them.

About Wonder Festival

Wonder Festival marked its 40th anniversary in 2025 and is one of the world's largest events for sculpture and figures. Since the summer 2009 edition, it has been held at Makuhari Messe, and it now draws about 2,000 dealers and more than 30,000 visitors in a typical year. It attracts strong interest from fans overseas as well as in Japan.

Professionals and amateurs alike bring garage kits they have made with great care to display and sell. Alongside one-of-a-kind sculptures, dealers' new works, and limited-edition items, the event includes stage programs, hands-on corners where visitors can enjoy painting and assembling at the venue, and cosplay by cosplayers.
