Hatsune Miku to Appear at COUNTDOWN JAPAN 26/27 on December 29 at Makuhari Messe

Virtual singer Hatsune Miku has been announced as a performer at "rockin'on presents COUNTDOWN JAPAN 26/27 supported by au" (hereafter CDJ26/27), which will be held at Makuhari Messe on December 26 (Sat), 27 (Sun), 29 (Tue), 30 (Wed), and 31 (Thu), 2026. Hatsune Miku is scheduled to appear on Tuesday, December 29. Details, including ticket information, are available on the official CDJ26/27 website.

From a "Singing Voice Instrument" to a Companion of Creative Culture: Hatsune Miku's First CDJ Appearance

Hatsune Miku, who will perform live at CDJ26/27, began in 2007 as singing voice synthesis software for music production (also known as virtual singer software). Created as software that sings when lyrics and a melody are entered, Hatsune Miku is, in a sense, an "instrument for the singing voice."

As many creators posted music made with Hatsune Miku's voice online, creative activity in multiple genres, including illustration, song, and dance, arose simultaneously, and the chain of creation spread around the world beyond language barriers, developing into a cultural phenomenon. Moving beyond the framework of software, Hatsune Miku has also become active on the world stage as a virtual singer who sings songs created by creators.

A total of 179 artists will appear at CDJ26/27. Hatsune Miku's appearance was made possible by the creators around the world who have supported and nurtured her creative culture. Through this appearance, Crypton Future Media, which develops Hatsune Miku, says it aims to share the appeal of the "co-creation culture" surrounding Hatsune Miku with more people.

About Hatsune Miku

Hatsune Miku is a singing voice synthesis software that Crypton Future Media planned and developed in 2007. It sings when lyrics and a melody are entered. The character depicted on the package is known for her blue-green twin tails. As a large amount of music made with the software was posted on the internet, a chain of creation in illustration, song, dance, and more spread and became a cultural phenomenon.

Today, Hatsune Miku is also active in many fields as a virtual singer. In Japan, the event Hatsune Miku "Magical Mirai," which combines live performances by Hatsune Miku and her fellow virtual singers with an exhibition where visitors can experience the fun of creation, has drawn more than 670,000 attendees in total since 2013. In 2027, it will be held in three cities: Osaka, Tokyo, and Hiroshima. Overseas, the world tour series "HATSUNE MIKU EXPO" has so far performed 139 shows in 55 cities. The 2026 North American tour has already been completed, and a European tour is scheduled for November. Beyond live events, a variety of related content, including collaborations with traditional performing arts and renowned artists, is being developed in Japan and overseas.
