YOASOBI released their fourth EP, "THE BOOK for,", on June 26, featuring "Orion," a song written for a collaboration with the game Overwatch. The Overwatch collaboration itself began on July 1, and on July 4 an official collaboration music video for "Orion" arrived on YouTube.
About "Orion"
"Orion" was written for "The Fall of a Sparrow," a short story set against the backdrop of Tokyo — Overwatch's newest stage — following Genji, Hanzo, and Kiriko. The song follows the three characters as they retrace their memories and confront their own feelings, and the music video brings that world to life through dynamic visuals, portraying each character's past and inner conflicts alongside striking action sequences.
"Orion" appears on the fourth EP "THE BOOK for,", and the EP's US-exclusive vinyl release comes in a special edition featuring Overwatch collaboration artwork on its jacket. The in-game collaboration runs for a limited time through July 21 (Tuesday, Japan time), bringing YOASOBI's music, world, and visuals into the game through a range of content. Alongside Hanzo, Genji, and Kiriko, six limited collaboration skins themed on Mizuki, Juno, and Anran are available, along with dance emotes set to "Orion."
The collaboration also traces the growth and conflict Kiriko, Genji, and Hanzo have been through together — the rift and parting between the two brothers, and the fate that once again brings them back into each other's orbit — weaving music, story, and visuals into a single narrative.
