Three onigiri that proved especially popular at the 2025 Japan World Exposition (Osaka-Kansai Expo) are returning with a fresh twist. From March 6, 2026, the Zojirushi Ginpaku Onigiri Kyobashi store is offering these limited-time menu items, reimagined with new touches in presentation and preparation while keeping the original carefully selected ingredients.

Limited-Time Expo-Inspired Onigiri
Fukaya Negi Sukiyaki with Salt-Koji Marinated Egg Yolk

Eat-in: Ginpaku Set Meal + 300 yen (tax included) / Eat-in only
*Available March 6 through May 31
Sukiyaki-style wagyu beef paired with Fukaya negi (green onion from Saitama Prefecture) — the same origin as used during the Expo — prepared using low-temperature cooking to bring out the vibrant green color of the negi and chrysanthemum greens. The combination with a specially prepared salt-koji marinated egg yolk creates a distinctive flavor unique to this Kyobashi store.
Nara Pickles, Takana & Sesame Tartar

Eat-in: Ginpaku Set Meal + 200 yen (tax included) / Takeout: 400 yen (tax included)
*Available March 6 through May 31
The aroma of ground sesame leads into the rounded, rich flavor of nara-zuke (sake-lees pickles from Nara Prefecture) — the same product used during the Expo — softened with mayonnaise and bonito flakes. Shredded red chili pepper adds a pop of color to finish.
Scallop & Apple Butter

Eat-in: Ginpaku Set Meal + 250 yen (tax included) / Takeout: 400 yen (tax included)
*Available while supplies of Jonagold apples last
The briny fragrance of scallop is complemented by the fruity acidity of Jonagold apples from Aomori Prefecture — the same origin as the Expo — along with the richness of butter and a garnish of dried parsley for color and appeal.

Background: The Expo Onigiri Shop

At the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, Zojirushi operated an onigiri specialty shop to share the deliciousness of Japanese rice with visitors from around the world. In addition to four standard onigiri, the shop featured rotating monthly limited-edition menus themed "Onigiri of Japan" and "Onigiri of the World." Over the course of the Expo, the shop welcomed more than 146,000 groups and sold over 320,000 onigiri in total.
