Hotel New Otani Osaka is presenting a special menu series titled "A Story of Brothers Who Dreamed of Ruling the Land, Told Through Fine Cuisine," running through April 19, 2026. The themed menus are available at three restaurants within the hotel: the Japanese kaiseki restaurant Kisho Isshin, the teppanyaki restaurant Keyaki, and the noodle restaurant Menjo NAKAJIMA.
The Toyotomi Brothers' Bond, Celebrated Near Osaka Castle

In 2026, renewed attention is being directed at the historical legacy of Osaka, and Osaka Castle Park is seeing a surge in visitors. One particularly captivating story is that of the warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his devoted younger brother Toyotomi Hidenaga. Hotel New Otani Osaka, located directly in front of Osaka Castle and Osaka Castle Park, has curated menus that allow diners to experience the flavors and grandeur associated with these two figures while breathing in the atmosphere of history.
Kisho Isshin: A Kaiseki Journey Along Hideyoshi's Rise to Power

Toyotomi Gozen — ¥8,800 (service charge not included)
The Japanese kaiseki restaurant Kisho Isshin offers the Toyotomi Gozen, a multi-course meal in which each dish is themed around one of Hideyoshi's successive castles. Known as a man of refined taste, Hideyoshi's culinary legacy is explored course by course.

"Steamed Abalone and Hokki Clam Salad with Butter Lettuce — Hinomaru"
The meal opens with steamed abalone and hokki clam arranged on butter lettuce reminiscent of a riverside wetland. The abalone evokes the legendary Sunomata Overnight Castle that appeared suddenly in a single night, while tomato is used to express the blazing ambition that drove Hideyoshi toward supreme power.

"Taiko Ishiyaki Gohan" — Stone-Grilled Rice Dish
Hot stone grilling is used to symbolize the unyielding foundation of Hideyoshi's national unification. The barley rice, which reflects Hideyoshi's humble origins, is topped with sea bream sashimi and chrysanthemum blossoms. A finishing pour of premium sea bream dashi evokes the flow of prosperity into Naniwa (present-day Osaka). It is served alongside pickled Moriguchi daikon, a specialty of Osaka, to honor Hideyoshi's connection to the region.

Keyaki: Golden Teppanyaki at the Same Height as Osaka Castle's Keep

Toyotomi Hanami Lunch — from ¥9,500 (service charge not included)
The teppanyaki restaurant Keyaki is situated on the hotel's top floor, positioned at the same height as the Osaka Castle keep. Diners enjoy a bird's-eye view of the cherry blossoms in Osaka Castle Park while savoring dishes that reflect the brothers' deep bond.

"Spring of the Ruler: Hideyoshi's Brilliance"
Cherry sea bream in season is served with spring garnishes, and the "gold" synonymous with the Toyotomi clan is expressed through a foamed soy sauce. The airy golden foam symbolizes Hideyoshi's unpredictable genius and the cheerful energy of spring.

"Toyotomi's Pride: The Brothers' Prestige"
This main course showcases the teppanyaki chef's skilled technique alongside premium cuts of meat. Diners choose between sirloin (representing Hideyoshi's flamboyant richness) or filet (representing Hidenaga's refined and dignified depth of flavor), each named after the respective brother.

Menjo NAKAJIMA: Two Toyotomi Tales Through Noodles and Sweets

Toyotomi Hanami Lunch — ¥4,980 (service charge not included)
The noodle restaurant Menjo NAKAJIMA brings together the contrasting personalities of the two brothers — the flamboyant Hideyoshi and the compassionate Hidenaga — through a relaxed lunch set featuring hand-cut soba (hot or cold) and Japanese sweets made with matcha and sweet red bean paste.

One of the highlights of the meal is a lavish abalone adorned with gold leaf to symbolize Hideyoshi's splendor, alongside octopus with pickled plum to evoke the steadfast loyalty of Hidenaga. At the center, barley rice and miso — emblematic of both brothers' origins — are presented as a reminder of the unshakeable family bond that persisted despite their rise to power.

The hand-cut soba, crafted with care by the kitchen's artisans, is served with a rich dashi made from premium bonito flakes sourced from Makurazaki, Kagoshima. The option to choose between hot and cold soba reflects the different paths the two brothers took in serving different roles during the Sengoku period.
