Fragrance Project Co., Ltd., which operates the Kyoto-based bespoke fragrance shop "MY ONLY FRAGRANCE," will open its first permanent store in Gifu Prefecture on November 1, 2025 (Saturday). The new "MY ONLY FRAGRANCE Hida Takayama" store is located in Hida Takayama, marking the brand's 13th location nationwide.
The store is situated within "Kura no Machi Hida Tenryo," a new commercial facility utilizing a 256-year-old machiya building. This space offers a unique experience where tradition meets modernity, allowing visitors to create fragrance as a "travel memory."
Background: A New Tourist Hub Where Tradition Meets Sophistication
Hida Takayama attracts over 4 million visitors annually, establishing itself as one of Japan's premier tourist destinations. The "Furui Machinami" (Old Town) area in former Takayama City is designated as a National Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District, preserving many Edo-period merchant houses with their historical streetscapes. The area is popular among both domestic travelers and international visitors, creating a diverse tourist flow.
The new location, "Kura no Machi Hida Tenryo," is a commercial facility created by renovating the former residence and store of the Hirata family, wealthy Edo-period merchants in the Old Town area, combined with new construction across 12 sections. Under the concept of "Traditional × Fashion × Pleasure," the facility brings together tenants that honor tradition while resonating with modern sensibilities, gaining attention as a new hub for Takayama.

Behind the counter, wooden fixtures resembling pharmaceutical workbenches are installed, with neatly arranged bottles and tools heightening anticipation for the "fragrance creation" experience.

The Hida Takayama store will sell an exclusive fragrance called "Cocone."
This scent evokes the sensation of one's heart gently unwinding in the clear breeze flowing through the forest. Crisp hinoki (Japanese cypress) notes blend with sandalwood's soft depth and tea's quiet aftertaste, spreading moments of tranquility.
