AIR RACE X Champion Aircraft Lands in Roppongi — LEXUS PATHFINDER AIR RACING Exhibition at Tokyo Midtown

LEXUS and air race pilot Yoshihide Muroya — who together form the air racing team LEXUS PATHFINDER AIR RACING — are bringing an exhibition to Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi) Galleria B1 Atrium Event Space. The event, titled "LEXUS PATHFINDER AIR RACING – Challenge in the Air and on Land –," runs for three days from Friday, March 20 to Sunday, March 22, 2026.

The AIR RACE X World-Conquering Aircraft Comes to Roppongi

The exhibition features "Zivko Edge 540 V3," the very aircraft Muroya piloted to victory at AIR RACE X. It's a rare opportunity to see an air racing aircraft up close — one engineered for aerodynamic performance capable of reaching speeds up to 400 km/h through skies around the world.

Also on display is the LEXUS "RZ600e Special Edition 'F SPORT Performance'," unveiled at the end of 2025. It is a model that pushes aerodynamics and driving performance to their limits, drawing on technologies developed through the collaboration between the two — with concepts such as "aerodynamics" and "ergonomics" inspired by aircraft now applied to LEXUS vehicle development. Technical experts will be on hand at the venue to explain the collaboration in detail.

Talk Shows on March 20 (Fri) and 22 (Sun); Kids' Craft Workshops Daily

On both March 20 (Fri) and March 22 (Sun) from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, a talk show will be held featuring LEXUS PATHFINDER AIR RACING pilot Yoshihide Muroya and technical coordinator Yusuke Nakae (LEXUS). Though Muroya narrowly finished second in 2025, he's set to challenge the 2026 season aiming to reclaim the championship title — and the talk show promises behind-the-scenes insights you won't hear anywhere else.

The venue also offers a micro-plane craft workshop for children, modeled after the race aircraft. It's a great outing option for families on the weekend.

Air Racing: The Ultimate Motorsport in the Sky

Air racing is a motorsport where the world's most skilled pilots compete for the fastest time through an aerial course, pushing the limits of precision flying at speeds up to 400 km/h and forces up to 12G. Using high-speed, highly maneuverable purpose-built aircraft, pilots navigate a designated aerial course while avoiding penalties, competing on both flying accuracy and time.

LEXUS PATHFINDER AIR RACING: Bridging the Sky and the Road

LEXUS launched LEXUS PATHFINDER AIR RACING with world-class air race pilot Yoshihide Muroya in 2016, sharing a "Pushing Boundaries" mindset and pursuing technical exchange across the domains of air and land. In air racing, the aircraft's engineering is just as critical as the pilot's skill — and LEXUS technologies have contributed to aircraft performance improvements in areas such as aerodynamics and ergonomics. Conversely, concepts inspired by aircraft have been fed back into LEXUS vehicle development.

AIR RACE X: The Next Stage of Aerial Motorsport

AIR RACE X is a motorsport where top-level pilots from around the world fly three-dimensional courses at up to approximately 400 km/h and under forces of up to 12G, competing on speed and precision. Even slight differences in line choice and control accuracy can determine the outcome — it's the ultimate air racing challenge, pressing the limits of human skill.

Pilot performance is recorded and analyzed using high-precision measurement technology, with results determined by flight time and course accuracy. Leveraging this measurement-driven competition format, AIR RACE X held its inaugural event in 2023. In 2024, the first full series was held, and Yoshihide Muroya claimed the inaugural series championship. After finishing second in 2025, Muroya enters the 2026 season aiming to reclaim the title.
