Aloft Tokyo Ginza Receives International Eco-Label "Green Key" for Second Consecutive Year

Aloft Tokyo Ginza, a next-generation lifestyle hotel operated under Marriott International, has received the international eco-label "Green Key" for the second consecutive year. This certification, operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), is one of the world's most established environmental certification systems, awarded to facilities recognized for sustainable operations and community contributions.

The hotel has been evaluated for its comprehensive initiatives spanning energy efficiency, waste reduction, water resource management, and various other sustainability efforts in daily operations.

This year, the hotel is strengthening its ongoing improvements and new initiatives to further advance its social responsibility.

Main Initiatives at Aloft Tokyo Ginza

1. Visualization and Optimization of Energy Consumption

The hotel continues to improve the efficiency of its buildings and facilities following an ASHRAE Level 2 energy audit conducted by a third-party organization.

Furthermore, the hotel has achieved a complete transition to renewable energy by adopting 100% green energy-derived electricity throughout all facilities.

2. Achieving Both Water Conservation and Comfort (All Guest Room Shower Upgrades)

In addition to introducing water-saving handheld showers, the hotel has also installed water flow control devices for rain showers.

As a result, annual water consumption has been reduced by 6.18%, while simultaneously upgrading all guest room showerheads to enhance water pressure and expand variety.

This initiative challenges the concept that "water conservation equals reduced comfort" and pursues a balance between environmental impact and guest experience.

3. Thorough Plastic Reduction Including Back-of-House Operations

The hotel has comprehensively reviewed plastic usage not only in guest room amenities but also in signage, displays, and back-of-house materials.

As a result, plastic waste has been reduced by 30.4% compared to 2024, achieving an annual reduction of 10,896 kg. This accomplishment reflects operational improvements across the entire hotel through the collaboration of all staff members.

4. Strengthening Food Sustainability

Since 2025, the hotel has introduced Fairtrade certified coffee beans at 54.6%, replacing regular coffee beans.

Additionally, the introduction rate of free-range eggs, crate-free pork, and MSC/ASC certified seafood among main ingredients has been significantly expanded.

The chef team and purchasing department are working together to promote responsible ingredient procurement that prioritizes sustainability for the future of the planet and guests, beyond cost considerations.

5. AI-Powered Food Waste Reduction (Winnow Introduction)

The kitchen has introduced "Winnow," an AI-powered food waste analysis system that automatically measures and visualizes waste amounts. Based on analytical data, improvements to cooking processes have resulted in a 1.77% reduction in food waste.

The hotel continues to minimize food waste and optimize cooking efficiency.

Moving forward, Aloft Tokyo Ginza aims to further accelerate environmental impact reduction and sustainable operations, providing guests with a stay experience that is "comfortable and kind to the planet."
