Audio-Technica Corporation presents "Analog Market," an experiential project designed to enrich the senses through sound, at SKAC (SKWAT KAMEARI ART CENTRE) for about a month, from Wednesday, September 2 to Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The project is a joint effort with VDS (Vinyl Delivery Service), a record shop based in Tokyo and London, and SKWAT, a project led by the design firm DAIKEI MILLS that turns underused urban spaces into hubs for art and culture.
Audio-Technica sees "analog" as something that goes beyond the record format, stimulating the senses and reflecting what makes us human. Throughout the event, visitors can explore a permanent Listening Room, where attention turns to the sounds of everyday life, and a Listening Station, where they can compare how different headphone materials and record cartridge stylus shapes shape the character of sound. On weekends, the program expands to include live events, record listening sessions, and a flea market offering rare records, antiques, and crafts for visitors to enjoy with all five senses.
The latest updates will be posted on the official event website: https://www.audio-technica.co.jp/analogmarket/
Whether visitors have long been drawn to analog culture or are discovering it for the first time, the event offers a wide range of content for everyone to enjoy.
Highlights
1. Listening Room: Tune In to the Sounds of Everyday Life
A space designed not just for listening to music, but for turning attention to the everyday sounds around us. Making use of the site's location beneath elevated JR train tracks, with the vibration that comes with it, the room offers a listening experience unique to this location.
2. Listening Station: Compare the Character of Sound
How do differences in headphone materials and record cartridge stylus shapes change the expression of sound? This permanent station lets visitors compare and experience the individual character each combination brings out.
3. Weekends Bring Live Music and a Flea Market
Weekends during the event will feature live music programs and various workshops centered on sound. On weekends in the first half of the run, more than 20 shops from across Japan are expected to gather for a "Record Market," alongside a flea market of antiques and crafts for visitors to enjoy with all five senses.
Planned weekend programs include the Record Market on September 12 and 13, a performance by Church of Sound on September 19, and a Field Recording Workshop on September 26 and 27. Performers and vendors will be announced progressively on the official website.
About Analog Market
"Analog Market" began as an experiential project stimulating the five senses, launched to mark Audio-Technica's 60th anniversary. Through records, live music, and flea markets, it shares the appeal of analog culture, having previously been held at venues including Tsukiji Hongwanji, offering many visitors new discoveries and opportunities to connect. This is the first time the event has been planned and produced jointly by three parties — Audio-Technica, VDS (Vinyl Delivery Service), and SKWAT — presenting the richness of analog culture from multiple angles through a varied program.
