As part of a wider streetscape project tied to burying utility lines along Haramachida Chuo-dori, Machida City has been running "Machida Weekend Street" (まちだウィークエンドストリート, nicknamed "Machi Suto") since fiscal 2023 to bring more energy to the roadside. Stalls and workshops built around a variety of ideas line the shopping street along Haramachida Chuo-dori, and through these events the city is aiming to create a livelier street that's simply more fun to walk down.
This time, alongside a local Bon Odori dance festival held within the Machi Suto area, the city is holding a special edition called "Machi Suto Night" (まちストナイト). It marks Machi Suto's first-ever nighttime event, taking place once the day's heat has eased, with "Machi Suto stalls" selling goods like miscellaneous items and accessories, plus hands-on "make-and-enjoy workshops" such as food-sample crafts and candle scooping — offering something for both adults and kids to enjoy.
