PARCO's film business development division is hosting the "Angel's Egg 40th anniversary exhibition" at Shibuya Cine Quinto starting November 21 (Friday), alongside the 4K remastered screening of the film "Angel's Egg."
"Angel's Egg" is a legendary animation created in 1985 by original concept, screenplay, and director Mamoru Oshii, along with original concept and art direction by Yoshitaka Amano. The production brought together trusted artists who continue to captivate many fans to this day.
The "Angel's Egg 40th anniversary exhibition" marks Cine Quinto's first-ever attempt to combine a film screening, exhibition, and merchandise sales simultaneously in the same location. Visitors can enjoy the 4K remastered version of this legendary anime on the big screen while exploring the background and origins of the work through an exhibition that maximizes the theater's space.
Exhibition Features
The exhibition displays approximately 70 carefully selected pieces from over 200 image boards created to share the visual concept between director Oshii and art director Yoshitaka Amano.
The selected image boards are organized into three themes: "Girl," "Boy," and "The World of Angel's Egg." The exhibition also includes a special corner dedicated to the story behind the newly drawn "Boy" visual by Yoshitaka Amano, created this year to commemorate the 40th anniversary. An animation scene display corner is also featured. Additionally, the exhibition showcases three-dimensional works of Angel's Egg by concept artist and digital sculptor Entei Ryu, whose work has been strongly influenced by director Oshii and Yoshitaka Amano.
The merchandise shop offers a wide range of products, from goods featuring illustrations drawn by Yoshitaka Amano to exhibition-original items designed with memorable scenes from the animation.
