Asahi Launches "Sunny Day Barley Tea Highball" in Limited-Quantity Release from April 14

A new canned shochu highball made with barley tea is now available in Japan. Asahi Beer has launched "Hare no Hi no Mugicha Hai" (Sunny Day Barley Tea Highball) through its new product test sales site "Asahi Fantasy Development Bureau" (アサヒ空想開発局) from April 14, in limited quantities.

The product uses hot-air roasted six-row barley to achieve the signature roasted aroma of barley tea while delivering a refreshingly light taste. The name reflects the developer's desire to create "a canned highball you'd want to drink after a day's work or on a sunny day."

The can features a vibrant blue color scheme with a large illustration of barley tea highball poured into a glass, visually expressing the refreshing character of the drink. The product name is prominently displayed on the packaging to clearly communicate its characteristics.

Barley tea has long been enjoyed in Japan across a wide range of occasions, particularly alongside meals. This release proposes a new option for fans of tea-based highballs, offering the classic flavor of shochu mixed with barley tea in a convenient ready-to-drink can.

"Asahi Fantasy Development Bureau" operates under the slogan "We imagine because we love it. We bring it to life because we love it," and continues to test-market exciting product ideas in limited runs. Purchasers are invited to complete a survey on taste and packaging, with feedback incorporated into future product development.
