Choyo Resort Hotel in Sounkyo Onsen Adds New Bird-Watching Corner to Bring the Forest Indoors

Choyo Resort Hotel, in Sounkyo Onsen (Kamikawa-cho, Kamikawa-gun, Hokkaido; 200 rooms), has added a new bird-watching corner to its lobby. Looking out through the windows at the lush forest surrounding the hotel, guests can enjoy watching wild birds and video footage of the natural surroundings — a relaxing space unique to Choyo Resort.

Telescopes and binoculars are set up in the lobby, letting guests take a closer look at the birds and plants outside. Of course, simply gazing at the forest scenery that fills the windows without using any equipment, and letting time pass slowly, is just as rewarding.

The corner is furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs, along with a bird guidebook that both children and adults can enjoy. A monitor also plays footage of wild birds, creating an immersive sense of being in the forest and bringing Hokkaido's abundant nature closer to guests.

With birdsong in the air and a forest that changes expression with the seasons, it's a spot where visitors may find themselves losing track of time in a moment of quiet relaxation.
