Akizuki in Asakura City to Display "Nochi no Hina" Dolls for the Chrysanthemum Festival on September 9

Akizuki, known as the "Little Kyoto of Chikuzen" for its beautiful seasonal scenery and its history as a castle town, sits in Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

Since February 2016, Asakura City has held the "Koto Akizuki Hina Meguri" doll festival tour in the Akizuki area. Next February's edition is again being planned together with local businesses, centered on the Asakura City Tourism Association, and as part of the preparations, a "Nochi no Hina" (Later Hina) doll display will be held on September 9 to mark the Chōyō no Sekku (Chrysanthemum Festival).

"Nochi no Hina" is a custom cherished since the Edo period as an event to pray for health and longevity. Today, it is also enjoyed by many as a grown-up's Hina Matsuri (Doll Festival).

On the day, around 600 hina dolls will be displayed on the steps in front of the Nagayamon Gate at the Akizuki Castle ruins. Ahead of the autumn foliage season, these out-of-season hina dolls will bring color to the town of Akizuki.

Visitors are invited to come to Akizuki and enjoy "Nochi no Hina" on this occasion.
