AQUARIUM × ART átoa and Kobe Maritime Museum Launch Anniversary Combo Ticket Starting May 8

A new combo ticket covering both AQUARIUM × ART átoa and Kobe Maritime Museum will go on sale exclusively online on Friday, May 8, 2026. The collaboration is part of an anniversary initiative, and both attractions are landmarks of the Kobe waterfront area.

Kobe Maritime Museum

AQUARIUM × ART átoa — a theatrical aquarium where marine life meets stage design and digital art — and Kobe Maritime Museum, a Meriken Park institution where visitors can explore the city's seafaring history, are both symbols of the Kobe waterfront. The combo ticket aims to make it easier and more affordable for visitors to see both in the same trip.

From átoa, the two venues are connected by a roughly 15-minute walk along the seaside promenade, with Kobe Port Tower in view and sea breezes along the way. Visitors can also take the Port Loop articulated bus: board at the "Shinkocho" stop and alight at "Kamomeria" or "Meriken Park." The bus provides a comfortable, climate-controlled option on rainy or hot days, and allows efficient exploration of the wider Meriken Park and NEW SEAPORT area.

Kobe Maritime Museum

Kobe Maritime Museum interior

The Kobe Maritime Museum features a striking white space-frame roof that evokes the sails of a tall ship and ocean waves. Built in 1987 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the opening of the modern Port of Kobe, it was renovated in 2020 under the theme "The Journey of Kobe and Its Port." Exhibits use documents, models, video, graphics, and hands-on displays to trace how Kobe and its harbor have evolved over time. Kawasaki World, an enterprise museum run by the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group, is also housed within the building.
