A pop-up event featuring Ookami-chan, the wolf works created by artist 黒田有里, will run from Tuesday, October 27 to Monday, November 2, 2026, at UNION SQUARE, the pop-up space in the Barneys New York Ginza flagship store. It will be the first appearance of Ookami-chan at Barneys New York.
Ookami-chan is created by 黒田有里, an artist drawing attention in the art scene and among collectors. The works grew out of an image 黒田有里 envisioned more than 10 years ago: a white wolf standing in swirling snow. Every wolf is made entirely by hand with close attention to detail, and with their distinctive world and high level of finish, they have won the support of collectors as art works that go beyond the category of stuffed toys.
The appeal goes beyond the shape of the wolf itself. Just like people, each wolf wears clothes and completes its own style, with a hat or a scarf. All of it is handmade piece by piece, down to the finest details. Finished as a single work together with everything it wears, each Ookami-chan has its own expression and personality, and no two are alike.
The theme this time is "Journey." Thirty-six Ookami-chan, each about 62 cm tall and weighing about 2 kg and about to set off for new places, will gather in one spot. Each one, made with a great deal of time and effort, is dressed in its own outfit and ready for the journey, and they will assemble at UNION SQUARE in the Ginza flagship store.
In addition to the usual white wolves, just one of the 36 will be a special black wolf inspired by the Barneys New York brand color. It will add color to the world of this "Journey."
Through encounters with Ookami-chan, each with a different personality and outfit, visitors can enjoy the distinctive world created by 黒田有里 and the appeal of handwork that extends to the fine details of fashion and craft.
