"Craft Beyond Borders by Delvaux" Exhibition Opens at Wako Ginza

Wako's flagship store in Ginza is hosting "Craft Beyond Borders by Delvaux" in its basement Arts and Culture space from June 4 (Thursday) to June 17 (Wednesday). The exhibition marks the first time this collection is made available to the general public in Japan.

About Delvaux

Founded in Belgium in 1829, Delvaux is recognized as the world's oldest luxury leather goods maison. Holding the title of supplier to the Belgian Royal Household, the brand is known for its exceptional craftsmanship and refined design — each piece carefully finished by hand, achieving elegant proportions that balance simplicity with sophistication.

The collection's theme centers on a fusion of Belgian and Japanese craftsmanship, set against the backdrop of Japan. Among the standout pieces on display:

  • Tempête: An alligator leather bag adorned with Kanazawa gold leaf decoration
  • Pin Mini Bucket: Crafted using obi fabric woven in Kyoto's Nishijin Ori tradition
  • SAKURA EMBROIDERY series Brillant: A striking piece featuring sakura motifs rendered in embroidery

The exhibition spans the full range of the Delvaux world — from these special Japan-inspired pieces to the brand's signature classics.

Venue: Wako Arts and Culture

Wako's basement floor was relaunched as "Arts and Culture" on July 20, 2024. More than a retail space, the floor is designed as a venue for sharing the stories behind the objects it presents — from centuries-old traditions and techniques to Japan's relationship with the natural world. The space serves as a meeting point for culture and community, with a focus on Japanese aesthetics, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

"Craft Beyond Borders by Delvaux" will be shown in this setting, making it a fitting backdrop for a collection that brings Japanese craft traditions into dialogue with one of Europe's most storied luxury maisons.
