Biwako Hotel Introduces Hyakunin Isshu Lunch Celebrating Spring Poetry and Omi Beef Delicacies

The Biwako Hotel (located in Hamacho, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, General Manager: Yoshikazu Maeda) will begin offering spring lunch menus at their "Japanese Restaurant Oomi" and "Teppanyaki Oomi" starting February 26, 2026 (Thursday).

Japanese Restaurant Oomi - Hyakunin Isshu Lunch Spring Banquet

As spring brings celebrations of graduations, school admissions, and promotions, the hotel has prepared lunch menus perfect for enjoying during cherry blossom viewing or sightseeing. The "Japanese Restaurant Oomi" offers the popular "Hyakunin Isshu Lunch" themed around the famous poetry anthology associated with Omi Shrine, expressing the sentiments captured in these classical poems through culinary artistry. This menu provides an opportunity to experience Heian period culture through food. Additionally, both the Japanese and teppanyaki restaurants offer menus showcasing the renowned local Omi beef. Guests can savor this premium beef in two distinct culinary styles. The Biwako Hotel welcomes spring visitors to enjoy these special offerings.

The "Japanese Restaurant Oomi" creatively incorporates traditional Japanese culinary techniques, and since 2022, has been offering menus that celebrate the world of Hyakunin Isshu through cuisine.

The menu from March 1 (Sunday) features imagery inspired by poems depicting spring scenery. The appetizers include seasonal ingredients such as bamboo shoots, canola blossoms, and bracken. The sashimi selection features rainbow trout from Shiga Prefecture, one of the lake country's blessings. Every detail, from the serving vessels to the decorative paper, expresses the vibrant beauty of spring.
