BONTEMPS (Bontan), a popular Korean coffee and donut chain known for its hand-twisted doughnuts called kwabegi, is launching a Spring Strawberry Fair starting Sunday, March 1. The seasonal lineup features four limited-edition donuts that pair sweet-tart strawberry with spring-inspired ingredients including cherry blossom, hazelnut, and pistachio.

Blossom Strawberry
Coated in freeze-dried strawberry pieces and a Korean-style soboro crumble for a satisfying crunch, this donut features a cream made with cherry blossom paste and is finished with additional crushed freeze-dried strawberry on top. The combination of strawberry's sweet-tart flavor and the gentle fragrance of cherry blossoms creates a donut that feels like spring in every bite.
Double Strawberry
Layered with strawberry chocolate and strawberry powder, then topped with a generous helping of white chocolate cream, this donut is finished with a chocolate-coated strawberry that adds a crisp textural contrast. An indulgent option for strawberry lovers, it delivers a rich, layered strawberry experience.
Berry Milk Cloud
Built on a base of strawberry chocolate and strawberry powder, this donut is piled high with smooth condensed milk cream. A fresh strawberry on top is scattered with pistachio, adding a gentle nuttiness alongside the sweetness. Light and airy in character, it captures the soft palette of spring.
Spring Noisette
Starting with a white chocolate base, this donut layers a rich cream made with hazelnut syrup and nuts, then finishes with shaved white chocolate, strawberry, and powdered sugar. The interplay between the toasty nuttiness of hazelnut and the tartness of strawberry gives this variety a sophisticated, elegant feel.
About BONTEMPS
BONTEMPS first arrived in Japan in December 2023 and has since grown to 10 locations across the country in about a year and a half. Each store makes its kwabegi donuts by hand every morning. The dough contains no added sugar, relying instead on the natural sweetness of ingredients like potato, resulting in a donut that is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
The brand keeps around 15 regular varieties on offer at any given time, and with seasonal items included the lineup climbs to close to 20. All donuts are made and sold on the same day.
On the drinks side, BONTEMPS carries items popular in Korea, including the salt cream Americano and the Bontemps Cream Coffee — beverages that are exclusive to BONTEMPS in Japan — as well as Korean-inspired creations like Earl Grey Lemonade and Misutkaru (a traditional Korean grain latte).
