The cafe "Bean there, UMEDA" on the first floor of Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda (Ofukacho, Kita-ku, Osaka) is introducing a new summer-limited flavor to its collaboration butter sandwich lineup with popular Osaka patisserie Seiichiro, Nishizono. The new "Strawberry × Passion Fruit" flavor will be on offer from June 16 (Tuesday) to September 30 (Wednesday), 2026.

The collaboration between Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda and Seiichiro, Nishizono — an Osaka-based patisserie drawing attention both in Japan and abroad — launched in March 2026 with three original butter sandwich flavors. This latest addition is a summer-exclusive variety available only at this location.

Summer-Exclusive "Strawberry × Passion Fruit" Flavor

Following the spring-limited flavor, this new creation brings together the gentle sweetness of strawberry and the tropical, refreshing tartness of passion fruit. Smooth passion fruit buttercream and strawberry jam are sandwiched between almond sablé cookies that have been diagonally dipped in strawberry chocolate. Rum and Madagascar vanilla are used as finishing touches, resulting in a balanced blend of sweetness and acidity that suits summer cafe time.

Summer-limited flavor

The sandwiches are designed with a thickness of approximately 3.5 cm — a dimension chef Nishizono has refined through his own research into what allows the aroma to be most pleasantly experienced while eating. Each piece prioritizes the balance of fragrance and texture.

New Frozen-Style Takeout

Exclusively for the "Strawberry × Passion Fruit" flavor, a frozen takeout option is also available. Served straight from frozen, the "Frozen Butter Sandwich" delivers a cool, melting texture reminiscent of ice cream, with fruit flavors and creamy buttercream melding together in a refreshing combination. This frozen style is not available for the "Orange" or "Coffee" varieties.

The format lends itself well to enjoying outdoors, including at Umekita Park at Grand Green Osaka, adjacent to the hotel.

Summer-limited

The previously well-received collaboration flavors — "Orange" and "Coffee" — continue to be sold alongside the new summer addition.

About Seiichiro, Nishizono

Seiichiro Nishizono is the owner-chef of the patisserie Seiichiro, Nishizono (セイイチロウ ニシゾノ), based in Higo-bashi, Osaka. Born in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, he studied confectionery both in Japan and abroad before honing his skills at hotels and the renowned establishment Mikage Takasugi. After accumulating experience in product development and store operations — as well as working as a confectionery school instructor and collaborating with apparel brands on sweet projects — he opened his own shop in 2014. The brand has since expanded into Asia and continues to reach audiences at home and abroad.
