Chidori-ga-fuchi Boat Pier Introduces QTicket Digital Queue System for Cherry Blossom Season

Chidori-ga-fuchi Boat Pier in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is rolling out QTicket — a digital queue ticketing service — for the 2026 cherry blossom season, now in its fourth year of operation at the venue. The system is designed to help visitors avoid long queues and enjoy a more relaxed outing during one of Tokyo's busiest spring spots.

How the Digital Queue System Works

Visitors can issue a digital numbered ticket by selecting their preferred boarding time from a tablet set up at the reception area. When the time approaches, they simply return to the boat counter and board without having to wait in a lengthy line.

Each ticket also features a QR code: scanning it with a smartphone allows visitors to register an email address and receive notifications in the event of sudden service suspensions or other important updates. This means that after collecting a ticket, visitors are free to explore the surrounding area — strolling along the moat or enjoying the blossoms — until their scheduled boarding time.

Note: For this season's deployment, the push notification (email/LINE) feature is not in use.

Background: Managing Cherry Blossom Crowds

Chidori-ga-fuchi is one of Tokyo's most celebrated cherry blossom destinations, and the boat pier regularly draws large numbers of visitors during the spring season. Congestion around the reception area has long been a challenge, with visitors often having to wait on-site for extended periods.

The introduction of QTicket addresses this by allowing people to wait wherever they like rather than standing in line. The system does not require major construction work and is simple to operate, making it easy to deploy on a seasonal basis. Chidori-ga-fuchi Boat Pier first introduced the service in 2023 and has continued using it each spring since.
