Chiikawa Bakery OSAKA Grand Opens at KITTE Osaka in Umeda on June 26, 2026

Chiikawa Bakery is opening its first Osaka location at KITTE Osaka (3F), located at 3-2-2 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka. Chiikawa Bakery OSAKA is set for a grand opening on Friday, June 26, 2026.

Chiikawa is a manga series created by illustrator Nagano, originally launched on X (formerly Twitter). The story follows Chiikawa and friends — including Hachiware and Usagi — through their everyday adventures that are both heartwarming and bittersweet. The series has expanded widely into merchandise, collaboration cafés, and corporate tie-ins, with manga volumes published by Kodansha (up to volume 8). A TV anime series has been airing on Mezamashi TV (Fuji TV network) since April 2022, and the feature film "Movie Chiikawa: Secrets of the Mermaid Island" is set to open on July 24, 2026.

The Tokyo location of Chiikawa Bakery opened in Harajuku/Omotesando in October 2024 and has been welcoming large numbers of visitors as a local landmark ever since. The breads are crafted under the supervision of Junichi Sawada, owner-chef of HIJ Library LLC, who represented Japan in the decorative bread category at the world bakers' competition "Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie 2026" held in France.

The menu features face-shaped character breads filled with cream, shokupan (sandwich loaves), and a range of savory and sweet items inspired by the Chiikawa series.

Additional items in the lineup include Kurimanjuu Pan (filled with chestnut paste), Sasumata Stick Pie in Chiikawa and Hachiware versions (sugar-coated sweet stick pastries), Toubatsu-bo Cheese Pan (cheese-filled bread), Houshuu-bukuro-yaki (filled with an-butter), and a selection of rusks in flavors including butter sugar, maple cinnamon, and spicy curry. A trio of moist Financier cakes shaped as Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi is also available in butter, matcha, and chocolate varieties.

Osaka Exclusive

Osaka Limited: Chiikawa Takoyaki Burger

To mark the first Osaka opening, a special Chiikawa Takoyaki Burger (¥670 tax included) is available exclusively at Chiikawa Bakery OSAKA.

Merchandise

Alongside the baked goods, the store carries Osaka-exclusive merchandise, including Chiikawa Bakery Jam (mixed fruit, ¥950 tax included), a flat tote bag (natural color, ¥2,420 tax included), and Chiikawa T-shirts (white, sizes M/L/XL, ¥3,630 tax included). Other merchandise is the same as what is available at the Tokyo location.

Osaka Limited Original Coasters

Drink Order Bonus: One Osaka-exclusive original coaster (3 designs, distributed randomly) will be given with each takeout drink ordered. This is a limited opening bonus available while supplies last; regular coasters will be distributed once the special coasters run out. Bottle drinks from the merchandise section are not eligible.
