Oita Kabosu Enhances the Freshly Squeezed Pink Grapefruit Scent
To recreate the pink grapefruit scent as realistically as possible, FERNANDA once again worked together this year with kabosu farmers in Oita Prefecture.
Oita is known for its thriving citrus cultivation, and kabosu in particular is the prefecture's signature specialty fruit, accounting for more than 98% of the fruit's production nationwide. Within the prefecture, kabosu is a beloved everyday companion in cooking, squeezed over sashimi and fried chicken or added to miso soup and drinks.
The kabosu used in this year's Pink Grapefruit Collection comes from Mr. Fujiwara, a kabosu farmer in Usuki City who once again lent his cooperation. After the fruit's juice is extracted for food processing, the peel — which would otherwise be discarded — is upcycled. By adopting locally distilled "kabosu peel oil" as a fragrance ingredient, the collection brings out the mellow acidity and refreshing aroma of pink grapefruit even more, evoking the freshness of fruit that has just been squeezed.
This year again, FERNANDA continues its commitment to sustainable fragrance-making that makes full use of nature's gifts.
